UFC 117: Silva vs Sonnen

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was so upset by Sonnen's loss. He made good on all his prefight talk though. He put Anderson Silva on his back and punched a hole in his face lol. Would love to see a rematch.

All through the JDS/Nelson fight Mike is talking about how Nelson gaining so much respect yadda yadda. I call BS, yeah he proved he can take a punch but he was barely in that fight. Except for a couple moments he had no answer to JDS, could barely touch him. So if you respect a punching bag then I guess Nelson's pretty good.
Silva/Sonnen was good until the end. We know Silva can take punches now, Chael did good like I figured he would but that was definitely a tap at the end and he "got out of it" because Silva relaxed his legs when he felt the tap. Watch the video closely and you can see it.

I think Chael beats Anderson if they fight again. I just can't believe it. I still think he was getting out of it and would have won the fight, but we'll never know. it was tight, he was not getting out of it, he was probably passing out and at the same time, silva turned it into an arm triangle. he was done

That would be ridiculous if Fitch doesn't get a title shot after dismantling Alves like that. i wouldn't call it dismantling but, he soundly beat him like he does everyone else not named gsp

that can be debated. I saw one actual tap. However, you're supposed to tap or say tap 3 times if you're actually quitting...unless you're Fedor :D However, it's not totally the ref's fault as he shouldn't have tapped at all, but still.

what can be debated is whether he tapped once or twice,..... what can't be debated is whether he submitted or not. he did submit. i think it's a disgrace for a guy to tap once, and then once the hold is loosened, act like you didnt' tap. it's a cowardly tactic to get a guy to loosen the hold so you can get out of the submission. cb dolloway did it and i think cb tko'd the guy. loser,........... that's all i gotta say

sonnen, talked way too much crap and i'm glad he lost. i would've liked for him to give anderson more props afterwards. all he said was, "he's a tough guy." i haven't seen the post fight conference yet though.

Pretty good prediction......

that was a good prediction.

Yoshi, bro, I was ready to sport the av and sig man, I thought you had it. sonnen did have it all the way to the last 2 minutes. reminds me of the Laker/Cetlic game 7. i give sonnen props for doing what he did. I'm not too surprized, I knew he is a bad matchup for anderson but was surprized at how one sided it was up until the sub. he was humble in defeat but after all the trash talking, i wish he would've gave anderson a little more props. but at least they hugged and talked a little after.

anderson proved he's the champ, he beat the #2 guy. he showed he has a heart of a champion, faced with a do or die, and capitolized.

yea he was losing and got beat up but, hey, all that matters is that he made the other guy submit. it was like a movie. good guy gets an arse woopin but ends up beating the bad guy right at the end

i dont know if id say he "punched a hole in his face" but he did back up his words and gave anderson a fight of his life.

rematch may be different since silva knows wat he's up against now, but who knows. they need to rematch after the way that fight went. i don't think he deserves an immediate rematch. maybe one fight then a rematch. but i can understand if an immediate happened too though the way the fight went.

I kinda agree with you, we watched the fight in the bar and JDS would punch Roy 10 times, then ROy would swing a huge overhand right and miss, and the crowd would cheer, then JDS would punch him 10 more times, Roy would land a weak jab, and the crowd would go nuts.
I think Roy is tough, and does have talent, but even though he went the distance, it was very clear that JDS was in a different class than Roy.

Svang, you gotta check out the press conference, Chael still ran his mouth, but he did give Silva credit for the win.
Yeah, defiant even in defeat.I just saw it and Chael is there mouthing off and mocking/make beleive what Silva was saying while they were having difficulties with the interpreter....Someone said that he put a hole in Silvas face but at the press conference it was Chael who had the visible marks bruises on his face.I had to work but I can't wait to see the fight.

i knew the anderson sonnen fight would end like this thought it would be sooner but i think it did show that andersons chin isnt that great.i mean sonnen had anderson wobbly a couple times and he is not really known for power like that in his hands, some one with power and better striking could take anderson out ,even though i think a wrestler probably has the best chance at it

Chael said he felt like he had him beat but Silva found a way to win, and thats what Champions do.

He's not happy about the loss, but he did give Silva credit.

I loved the part where someone asked if he wanted a rematch and he said, "If the Commision would ok it, and Dana would move, I would fight him right now".

there is no question that sonnen had anderson beat he won every round he just wont finish when he has the chance and leaves himself open for submissions, which he is good at avoiding but with someone like anderson it only takes one mistake.
