UFC 127 - Penn vs. Fitch

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i like the 10 pt must system. you as a fighter know that you need to win 2 rounds and not just dominate one round hoping that will cut it. if anything after the 3rd round is declared a draw then they should go for one more deciding round. make it just like any other sport so if its tied it goes into overtime.

Why so much hate on the Brit? I thought Bisping looked good in the fight throwing those elbows. I think Vitor is asking Dana to give him Bisping... :) Which will be awesome

Cause he acts like his poop don't stink when he hasn't beaten a quality opponent. He's a solid fighter, just not the top tier guy he thinks he is.

Hypocrite (He trash talks, but cannot take it)
Over-hyped (He has lost all of his big name fights other than Akiyama)
Arrogant (In his mind, his career and talent is on par with Fedor or A. Silva yet his only claim to fame is TUF3).
Sore Loser (See Wand, Hendo)
Sore Winner (See Hammill, Rivera)
Cheater (See obviously intentional knee on Rivera)

Not a 10-8, no. I don't think BJ was ever in extreme danger of stoppage, ko, or submission. Fitch did his *yawn* usual. He was controlled and punched a lot.

So bored with seeing lackluster cards. Streamed this one.

Bisping with a CLEARLY intentional illegal knee and a classless spitting at the corner, then followed it up with **** talking the man who was beaten. Just a garbage person with some decent talent. He should take a look at that Hendo fight again to remind him that he isn't good enough to act like that.

The knee was "intentional", but the question is, did Bisping plan on doing that, or was it a "heat of the moment" type thing?

I tend to give the fighter the benefit of the doubt in situations like this.
Any MMA fan knows how fast of a sport this is, and if you've seen it live, you really have experienced this.
Sometimes fighters do some stupid things inthe heat of battle, and can just make mistakes.
I think this is what happened, and Bisping apologized after the fight for that (and his comments to Rivers BTW).

I am a Bisping guy (the fighter, not necesarily the guy), and I will say that I thought this was the worst I've seen him look in a while, and that has nothing to do with "the knee".
He looked slow, and also looked like he was trying to load up too much, and totally forgot that he has one of the best jabs in the UFC.

On the above comment, I have said in the past that I think Bisping could beat Anderson, so I would love to see that fight.

wow hy, you actually think bisping can beat AS??? he'd be at least a 5-1 underdog for me. there's nothing on his resume that tells me he'd have anything to offer Anderson right now.

like previous posts, he hasn't faced any top competitors that he didn't lose to. he's improved a lot since tuf, but i don't think he's ready for a title shot until he beats at least 2 solid contenders at 85, and that's onlly because i think the division is a bit thin

I agree with you though on the rest of your post. I always give guys benefit of the doubt and even if he messed up, everyone makes mistakes, now i'll keep an eye on him to see how he acts in the future.

if he continued his post fight antics and not learn from what he did, then that's a different story

Yeah, I know it's out there, but I'm on a little bit of a run calling the upsets lately, and this is one I've been on for a while.

The thing is, MMA is all about match-ups. The way two fighters match up stylistically, is the key to "guessing" who will win.
I think that if you dropped those 2 in the cage today, that Bisping has a good chance to beat AS. I think when he is on, Bisping has some of the best technical stand-up in the UFC, and I think his boxing style, could really frustrate AS.
Now, I'm not saying it's for sure, I'm just saying that out of the guys at that weight, I think Bisping might have the best shot.

The interesting thing is (and we encountered this in the HW discussions), is that just because I think Bisping might be AS, doesn't mean I think he'd beat Belfort tomorrow if they fought, it's all about the match-up.

I also think that Carlos Condit could beat GSP if you dropped them in the cage together tomorrow, but that doesn't mean he'll win all the fights necessary to get there.

Yea I agree that styles makes fights, but I gotta disagree on bisping and condit beating AS and gsp. I think bisping will beat vitor, if he don't get ko'd, he'll get the W. But he isn't ready for AS. If they fought tomorrow, it'd be one sided in AS' favor. But I do agree that his striking is technically top 3 at 85 in the ufc, but AS is a different beast. His striking is the best at 85 and top 3 p4p

Condit would be like a 3-1 underdog against gsp for me. And bisping would be 5-1 underdog
