Nice...I tried doing that with at the Mir vs. Lesnar fight, but no one would go with Brock...silly wresters, err, I mean, entertainers ;)

See, now this is where I end up getting in the big debate's with the MMA purists, because I think that Lesnar could have a nice future in the UFC. It's partly because the heavy-weight division is so weak in the UFC, but still I think Lesnar has some real potential if he gets the right training.

I agree with you...key word being potential. I wonder just how much time he spends training with the MMAA camp. On all access it didnt seem like he did much off anything for BJJ. Granted its just a glimpse of his training but he was going against Mir. Brock should have been doing BJJ defense in his sleep.

I agree with this, and he doesn't need to be a black belt, he just needs to be familiar with it, especially defending. However, one could ask, how much time does a guy like Tim Sylvia really spend training in BJJ?

Tim Silvia's ground game is alright...he actually comes from a wrestling and grappling background believe it or not...

But as far as the Lesner-Mir fight, Brock did manage to land a couple of punches on Mir before he gave Frank his leg on a silver platter...maybe he has potential but I just didn't see anything as far as technique, besides his wrestling skills, which isn't enough on its own to be effective in MMA.

i guess tim can get by. he did good against monson but then again i think jeff's ground game is over hyped. i know abu dabi champ but still over hyped imo. you can't be a MFS fighter and not know how to fight on the ground but whenever tim has gone up against a real deal HW BJJ expert like Mir and Nog he got owned. there was ricco but i wouldnt put him in the same class.

i agree. its just way too early to tell what he can be. same thing with kimbo. they are big names so so many people are either loving them or hating them. jury is still out imo and they have a lot to prove. only time will tell.

I know Sylvia's ground game is "alright" but remember this guy with "alright" ground skills is the former UFC heavy-weight champ! I'm not trying to talk you guys into thinking that ground skills aren't important, because they are. All I'm saying is in the UFC, and in that division, they're not as important. And I think that Lesnars ground game can be as good as Sylvia's if not better due to his background, and his raw power might be enough to get him somewhere. That Mir fight was almost stopped twice.
This logic cannot be used for any other division IMO though, the talent is too deep.

i can see what you mean. but if lesnar were to look at his goals and what he needs to become he can't just think in the ufc. he has to look at all the HW out there. right now it sucks cause they are all spread out but that can change quickly and so can the fact the he is even signed with the ufc. there are a lot of HW the would just whoop on him. big tim is a good striker and thats the only reason he has had success. lesnar has to prove himself in that area as well.

Agreed, I just think with what he has to offer, mainly his sheer power, that will win him some fights, I'll bet it'll win him his next fight.
