What about using clove oil? By knocking the fish out it will cause less damage to the fish and you
Once I get him out, how much do I use? What about using clove oil? By knocking the fish out it will cause less damage to the fish and you
I've used a towel to hold fish before. Wet the towel first of course. It's not ideal but shouldn't harm the fish. I'm afraid of clove oil, but it's like 1 or 2 drops per gallon. Some fish are more or less suspectable to it's effects. I would definitely do more research on using it before I went that route.Yeah that’s what I was afraid of....them being slippery. And I’m afraid of using a towel and wiping any slime, or anything else, off their scales I’m not supposed to
Ahhhahaha....not laughing at you....laughing with you. So I’ll try a wet towel and hood that works. I just hope the plant isn’t like a barb inside him where another part of the plant broke offI've used a towel to hold fish before. Wet the towel first of course. And that wasn't supposed to be an "if" it was an "I've", I received 5 stitchs from that fish....lol. Wasn't one of mine I'm way more careful moving fish now. Lion fish are no joke either.....ask me how I know.
Just before or after I turn the lights out I feel like mine are at their most skittish and flip out over every movement outside the tank ironicallyI may suggest netting it a little after lights out or even before lights go on early morning so they are a bit groggy. As soon as you put a net in the water they are likely to start panicking and you don’t want them to chew each other as well.
Like twenty leagues said, unless you know enough about the proper dosage, I wouldn’t mess with clove oil. I have put fish down with it before and it only takes a second or two and they are gone. Different sizes of fish can handle more of it etc.
my experience with this type of thing is you can net the fish up against the glass and reach in with long tongs to remove, but most likely the plant will dislodge before you get the tongs in there to do anything.
just make sure you keep water clean so the wound heals well.
Try using a red light to see without turning any other lights on in the room. I've found some fish can see it fine others can't. But you'll have to be quick as soon as they "feel" you near them (vibration near the tank) they'll go on alert or even panic.Just before or after I turn the lights out I feel like mine are at their most skittish and flip out over every movement outside the tank ironically
