Yeah, I'm 15, responsible, and practically a steady 4.0 student
. They ask what I want for Christmas and heres the conversation:
Parent: "Hey Matt, what do you want for Christmas? Your brother already asked for an airsoft gun, an iPod, and video games." (for reference, my brother's presents came to about $300
)
Me: "I want a larger fish tank cause my fifteen gallon is too small. Maybe like a 55 gallon or something." (Started the tank around six months ago)
Parent: "No really Matt, what do you want? All of the aunts and uncles are gonna pitch in if you want something big."
Me: "I want a FISH TANK"
Parent: "Okay Matt, I guess you don't want anything
, so I'm gonna tell your aunts that you just want clothes."
Me: "But... I said I want a fish tank"
Parent: "Matt, you need to be more decisive and make up your mind like your brother. You see, he specified what he wants and now your aunt and uncle are gonna go buy his presents. Matt, you're SO indecisive."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I accept this fact that maybe I was asking for a little much in comparison to my brother. (55 gallon tank = about $180 with filter and heater............................Brother's stuff = look above)
It's a few days after Christmas and I ask my parents if I can buy a fish tank on my own with the money I got from Christmas (alot $$$). I tell them I will pay for everything excpet for maybe the water and the electricity, but I only do 25% water changes every two weeks. And their reply is
arents: "Matt, you need to get your grades up. You have a 'B' in Spanis(Honors Spanish II ) and Math (Honors Algebra II Trigonometry). That's unacceptable! You're in tenth grade, Matt, these grades count for college! And you need to study for finals. If your grades don't go up you're gonna be up the $#*% creek! "
So I just finished finals (CAKE!
) and I want to ask them again but I'm afraid of what they're gonna say. Do you have any tips or am I completely screwed till I'm out of college, poor, working 12 hours a day trying to support my 2 foot apartment? (metaphor, hopefully won't come true) But really, any suggestions/ tips?
All advice is helpful and in advance, I am thanking everyone who replies and I am very grateful.
