Can anyone out there make suggestions on what to feed my baby bass? I have been trying frozen bloodworm and mysis shrimp from the beginning but they don't seem to fond of that. They went crazy on live foods like guppies and brine shrimp, but I would like to stop spending so much money on live stuff. Has anyone had success with dried foods?

I bought more frozen bloodworm in hopes of these guys eating it. I think my old fbw was a lesser quality as the new ones are bright red and a lot better looking. My baby pbass are munching it hard! I will still buy small feeders and brine shrimp so they will grow to a pellets trainable size. They seem to have grown a little in the last 10 days.

They've grown a little. I've been trying to feed them as often as I can. They love their bloodworms and brine shrimp, but still not interested in anything dry. I think one is looking like a mono, he's always showing a dirty black band down the side. The other guy might be ocellaris, I don't see him display a line down his body. What about yours?

Hmm, if you have an international farmers market near you that have an SE Asian or Polynesian section, you may want to try picking up a pack of frozen whitebait fish (sometimes called silverfish). They are these really super small tiny fish that are eel-shaped and about 1-2 inches long. They are not any specific fish species, the term just refers to tiny juvenile fish that are eaten en masse in soups and other dishes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitebait

They can be torn in half or thirds after thawing, and my lilttle guys would pick them up nearly instantly -- sometimes the same day as receipt for 2.5" bass. I really like them because it's fish, so it's a no-brainer for most bass, and they are frozen as well, which means no parasites, and it buys you some time to get them trained on other frozen (and eventually dry!) foods. :)

Thanks heatherbest! That's a great idea! I know what you are talking about and will try to find some this weekend. Here in Hawaii we have a lit of Asian markets so I'm pretty sure I will find that. I'll update with my results this weekend.
