Unfortunately I will have to probably thin out the herd at some point because I can only get a 220 later this year. I wish I could go bigger, but big tanks are really hard to come by in Hawaii. My friend is willing to take at least 5 of these guys as he has a fish room with an 8 footer, 3 sixers, and a few other big tanks.

This is a highly responsible fallback plan -- I have frequently seen the 'getting a bigger tank' plan fall through. It sucks having to choose which to keep, but your remaining fish will thrive for it.

I've been trying to make friends in the local aquarium community in hopes of finding more people interested in peacock bass. That way if I ever have the need to let them go, I know who I can turn to. Also, I'm getting a few of my friends and relatives interested in this type of fish also and told them I would take on the task of growing them to a pellet training size and then selling them off to them at a price that would have just defrayed my cost of buying, feeding, and housing them. I actually wanted to use this buy as kind of like practice, in hopes of finding higher quality pbass to raise without the worry of having them die due to my inexperience raising them from such a small size. Last year I lost 3 baby ocells because I had not done enough study to raise them properly. After that, I've successfully raised 2 kelberi, 1 mono, 1 temensis from about 2 inches to about 9 to 10 inches. I also got my 2 unknowns up to about 3.5 inches from 2, so I am feeling a lot more confident. But this Orino buy was by far the smallest, which I had not expected. I wanted to focus on Kelberi and Orino as they don't get as huge like ocells or tems in captivity.

My unknowns are growing well. They are still only eating bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small live feeders. Hopefully in a couple of months they will be big enough to pellet train.uploadfromtaptalk1393309618365.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393309633351.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393309651121.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393309681899.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393309704898.jpg

I still can't figure out that one with the dirty stripe going across his body. He exhibits that almost all the time. The other looks kind of like an orino at times, but I'm thinking more likely ocellaris, maybe mono because his sibling has that weird stripe.

Here's a few more pics. I'm thinking hybrid, but hoping to get lucky.uploadfromtaptalk1393570643217.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393570667582.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393570704849.jpg
