Glad you made it through unscathed. A girl I know got robbed like that on her first day as a bank teller. Surprisingly she went right back to work.
I had a cop give a similar look when I told him that the guy that attacked me with a knife was using a Spyderco

Armed employees at a bank? I doubt that will ever happend. Maybe an armed guard, but even then, I never see armed guards at any banks in my area. If I were a teller, I would NOT try and be the hero of the day and get shot for trying to protect the bank's assets. That's what insurance is for. I wouldn't risk my life over a couple bucks an hour. The robber could take all the damn money in the bank for all I care, as long as nobody gets hurt.

Yeah, I could never see a bank allowing its employees to carry as it is a liability to them. They would rather hire a guard. I agree with you about being the hero. I don't give a damn about the money either. It's MY life I am more concerned about and I would prefer to have a way to defend my self.

LOL, so I am not the only one out there who can identify weapons pointed at them. I don't know much about knives, but I imagine that would be more difficult to identify than a firearm.

Thank God you or anyone else were not hurt.I have been shot at and have had a gun held up to my head in a robbery but of course I was not able to even tell what type it was let alone the make and model.....You sure know your stuff.

For the record, I wasn't suggesting arming bank employees. My comments were a response to the mention of Illinois gun control law, and how it is disregarded by criminals.

I figured that was the case. All gun control laws are disregarded by criminals. It is only the law abiding citizens that keep the law while the criminals run around with whatever they want. Did they change the laws in IL recently due to the ruling in DC about keeping a handgun?

They are looking at adding some better security features. I hope they do as this is the second time this year. I wasn't there for the first one at least.

EVERY bank in the Philippines has 3 to 5 security guards armed with a pistol grip shotgun . They also check you and anything you are carrying before letting you in. They also will shoot you if you do not surrender your gun at the door. It is legal to carry a gun in the Philippines if you are a Philippine national and have a permit. You just give your gun to the security guard at the entrance to the mall, bank, store or whatever before you go in. They check it in, and give it back to you when you leave. There are no bank robberies in the Philippines!

I honestly would have froze, might possibly pee in my pants, because looking down on any barrel is not fun. I am glad you are okay.
