its not that hard to convince her just tell her if you cant build an indoor pond then you are gonna buy a huge tank after seeing the major cost difference in the two she will probally be more inclined to let you build one my womanwill let me build whatever i want in the basement cuz she never goes down there
From the perspective of the fish, its not ghetto at all.
The fish have a healthy amount of room and as long as you keep up with the maintenance, the water quality should be good.
I do think its kinda hard to monitor fish health if you can't see them that well but you said it was a temporary holding area anyway. I also agree with some of the others about the risk of puncture to the side.
Overall, I think this is a good model for an "emergency" tank.
