Urgent please help! Stringy poop!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have found some GTs are very susepable to intestinal issues (bacterial infections) when fed a diet high in animal protein. They have a longer intestinal track and are better off treated like African cichlids as far a s diet goes. Higher in vegitable matter. NLS thera A+ is a good staple and Omega One super veggie pellets is also good for them. More often than not the white stringy poop is mucosa from the intestinal wall and not IPs. Treat with API General Cure (in case it is IPs and the Metro is a good antibiotic for this) when it starts eating after treatment feed a diet higher in vegatable matter and lower in protein. A couple of skinned peas after treatment will clear it out. In diffacult cases you may need Kanamycin or Neomycin depending but if you do as I suggested it should fix this.

Thanks for your reply. the problem i am facing is that it's just not taking any food. And i am not sure i can find the right medication in my area. But i do have loads of Magnesium sulphate(epsom salt) with me and yeah green peas! I guess i have to just do water changes and keep trying to feed it peas. It has not eaten for 5 days. And the bloat looks a little bit big. I just want to know how much of epsom sat should i add in the water and if should be done by changing the water. That is the new water which i am adding that will contain epsom salt or just add the salt directly to the water without changing it!

Add 1tbsp per 10G. Change 100% water after 24hrs.
Do this for few days and see. Do not feed during this period. After day 5 or 6 depending on the health of the fish feed very lil good quality food.
Continue if need be.

Yes agreed, if you have no acess to meds use Epsom salt as discribed above.

Checked all the areas, the only medication i found was Ocean Free general cure and ocean free internal bacteria and ocean free internal parasite. Have anyone used this?is this good?should i use this for my fish?
Ocean Free general aid and Ocean Free Rid all.
There was another one, Ocean free internal bacteria and ulcer.

Thanks i will do this. Any experience with the meds i just mentioned?

Update regarding the fish : It seems to be still very active as usual. Chases me like always. Has not eaten anything for the 5th day running but doesn't seem like hungry at all. Has a fat bulged tummy. It's not like a bloat, just purely fat like over fed fat. Has been treated with epsom salt twice. The stringy poops is visible once during the day but vanishes after some time. Overall the health has neither deteriorated nor back to normal.

Posting pictures of the fish. Anyone can please identify if this is overfed or bloat? and what is the red coloration near the fins? There is this red blood like formation near the point where the fins meet the body, just beside the gills. Please help!
