URGENT: What's wrong with our lsn?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
..., however if you wish to try since the fish is isolated treat with 3X sulfa. Sulfa is not hard on nitrifying bacteria so you do have to worry about whiping out your BB during treatment. GL.

I have no 1st hand experience with Sulfa. This is what Tom said above. BB = beneficial bacteria = nitrifying bacteria.

You can leave it.

I ment to say don't have to worry. Sorry for the typo. See how the fish look in 24 hours and let us know what's going on. We can adjust meds if necessary.

Okay, so he's still red and sick looking but he's definitely more alert today that he was yesterday and is even swimming around a little. Hoping that's a good sign! Especially considering he was knocking on deaths door, floating upside down being sucked over to the filter intake, just yesterday morning! The package of Triple Sulfa says to treat the tank again in 24 hours so hubby will add another dose when he gets home from work. We'll see what happens. He's not eating yet...and looking thin :-/ Have tried raw cut fish, rosy reds (which he usually goes nuts over), bottom dweller pellets and shrimp pellets. No reaction to any of them in days...and the feeder fish ended up nibbling on his fins some so they got tossed in the turtle tank.

You show those feeders who's boss lol. I wouldn't expect him to eat at this juncture but keep offering food everyday. Once he eats, it may be a sign that he's on the right track

Haha! The turtles and tsn appreciated the snack ;) That's exactly what I was thinking about if/when he eats he'll hopefully be on the right track. Will keep trying! Thanks :)

Quick update: This little guy is a fighter! Seems to be getting more alert and active each day. Still not eating but we will keep offering food. The redness is still there but looks like it's gotten a little better (from what I can see...hard to see underneath now that he's swimming again and staying closer to the bottom). Have done two Triple Sulfa treatments on the water according to the box...starting another treatment tonight.

A couple of days ago, when he wasn't looking so hot, we noticed what looked like a blister forming near his eye and his eye swelling a little. After the first treatment it went down and yesterday we noticed that the skin that had "blistered" apparently died and fell off. This is what it looks like now. Hopefully his eye will remain unharmed while that heals :-/
