You are correct, to a point. FW Ichthyophthirius multifiliis can be cured by using higher temps, salt & large, frequent water changes. SW whitespot, Cryptocaryon irritans, is a totally different parasite & if you use raised temps, you could kill the fish, since this parasite commonly affects their gills. It also does not affect this Crypt parasite the same way as the FW Ich.
