Awesome fish man! I have a flathead and a blue cat that Ive had for a while. Both are super friendly and very interesting. They used to fight a bit until they established an order. Flathead is king! My little guy was about 5 inches or so when I caught him. He is now almost 20". Eating massivore. my blue is about 16'' but he is growing faster than the flathead. Just Ive only had him half as long. Only warning I have is flatheads will attempt to eat anything up to 2/3 their size when they get big enough. No joke! Anxious for updates!

That sound wicked man! Thanks for sharing your experience! Not many even here have kept Blue Catfish :)

After nearly being killed by the wels catfish this guy has been in my 400 gal pond for a while now. Looking really dark and gorgeous. Getting pretty thick also. Really difficult to get any pics of it in the pond. I have a pond update vid that shows him for a short period that I will link up later.

Good to hear he recovered from the wels incident. I'll probably try to catch a few of these guys in the river when they spawn this spring. Hopefully I won't lose my arm.

lol, you noodling? Yeah I can always here him causing trouble in the pond, but it's large enough that the suncats can get away from him. They all try hiding in the folds of the pond liner.

No but the parents hang out around the mass of fry and will at times attack anything that comes near them. The majority of the flatheads I see are in the 40-50 pound range.

Tbinchrist is our colleague from PCF (good to see you here, bro!) and an avid fisherman. Looking forward to his thread and pics.

Ok so quick update this guy is always causing trouble in the pond, but is doing well and growing relatively steady. Not sure of the size, but larger than I last posted. It is so hard to get even crappy pics in the pond though lol. I will try soon I promise. Maybe even a vid or two. Gonna rehome him back in the 100 gal for a while since the wels and vulture are now dead. If he don't play nice with my sperata it will get rehomed in the pond since it is outgrowing him 4 to 1 anyway. :) This guy fights with the suncats in the pond constantly. They all want the same liner flap but the flathead always wins out. He can tear the suncats up pretty bad at times. I want to see him more and since the sperata is more interactive and doesn't hide I will likely switch them soon.
