from experience as a cichlid keeper. they grow very slow in comparasion to most cichlids. ive had mine since early october and they were an inch.they are now 3'' (largest dominant male almost 4'').
my freind who kept them previously says the same. even with power feeding and twice weekly water changes they grow 3/4 inch per month. however i was told by some reliable sources that their growth rate is slow as babies. but, once they reach 3'' then the growth starts to speed up.
will take monthly photo's and let you see the development on growth. . . im also curious as you.

Mine grew at the average cichlid growth of .5-1" a month from 2" to about 10", then has almost stopped. It was 10" after about a year and a half, and hasn't grown much length wise in the year since then. It has put on more mass in that time. It was not in small tanks either...started in a 100 gallon, then a 220, then a 360, and now back in a 100.
