Vieja Zonatum: SPAWNage ?

I just saw this post. Great looking fish. When I first saw the video I was that pictus cat come into the frame and was going to type...get that out of there. Catfish are notorious egg eaters. Either that or the pair feel threatened and will eat their own eggs.

Question..
Should I seperate these two?? The male is being very aggressive with the female, and I'm afraid he'll kill her... I've not seen him be this aggressive so far...

I thought maybe it was happening cause they had already spawned but I don't see eggs anywhere... Her tube is really out so maybe its close..

Anyway I'm freaking out a little..

If he's banging on her too badly, use a divider. Because otherwise, he can, and very well might, kill her. They can actually still spawn through the divider if you use egg crate.

Strong fish, so make sure its in there good.

If I were to divide them with an eggcrate (which I have) would I need to make sure there was a flat rock like right up against the crate? Sorry Im just trying to vision them spawning through the crate...
