nope, but everyone get their first time :D

because its small, and non aggressive, it should be a good starter of venomous snake ;)

you dont see me bragging about starting off with a juvi cobra :nilly:

If you don't have any experiance looking after snappy arboreal snakes, I'd advise not to go down the eyelash route. You've got to remember, they'll be a time you have to assist a shed, forcefeed, remove an eyecap or whatever, you will have to get up close and personal with this snake. Would you know where to begin if you did?
If you are looking into getting venemous, this wouldn't be a good starting snake. Yes it fits the bill of being 1) reasonably hardy, 2) generally good feeders, 3) Non-fatal*, but it lacks in being very workable, and it's care is more advanced than many other hots.

*by this means there isn't a high death rate for them when treated, so your more likely to survive if bitten than not.

their a site shows the proper setup and etc :O They wont get piss unless you harass or annoy them, consider one of the non-threatening venomous snake (just like a piranhna, you dont touch / spook them, its fine) oh and 18"-22" thats not big.. 18-22 inches thats like 1-2 ft... they consider to be the smallest venomous snake around ^^

its not rocket science to clean up the tank. Can get like those tank with removable bottom (like a bird cage) so you dont have to remove the snake ^^

and if i really have to remove the snake from the branch, i can simply hook out the snake, but if their tail wraps around the branch tightly, i can tap it gently (not using hand) till they let go ^^

cant start till I move thou :) ^^ still looking forward of owning one ^^

you say they wont get pissed off unless you provoke them, this is not all that accurate. every snake is different. I know of corn snakes that bite all the time. You can alllways try to train a corn by handling it often, but with a venomous lightning fast arboreal viper it is a whole different story. you cant just "handle them" and then they are puppy dogs letting you pet them behind the venom sack. You obviously do not have any experience in this field yet. I suggest you start off with something non venemous and work your way up. also if you like that vibrant yellow they have bearded dragons int het color and they are awesome. lol.

What snakes have you kept in the past? Normally I would not recommend a GTP to a noob but they start out either bright yellow or red and stay that way for about a year until they go through their color change. If you are absolutely sure you can maintain a proper environment for one you could start there. Like I said I wouldn't even recommend one for a beginner but it would be a much wiser choice than the eyelash and maybe you wouldn't even get yourself, or worse yet someone else seriously injured. Good luck getting your insurance company to pay for that ER visit, if you even have insurance!

Of course, they're gonna downplay their aggression since they're trying to sell the things. I've heard the same things about ATBs. Can't believe everything you read, sport.

I was unaware there was such a cage for a snake.

Gah, just let the snakes be what they are and if they dont want to tame to satisfy humans, so be it. You can find thousands upon thousands of tame snakes, its not the end of the world if you have an aggresive snake! If its aggresive, its *likely* wild-caught and a cheap import anyway, so you probably have money left from that 20 dollar ATB at the show that was 'guaranteed' or whatever it is.

Why would you want a tame venomous snake anyway? Someones going to get hurt eventually, they always do if you even think about touching it... Do you wanna get your Gaboon viper to snuggle with on the couch or show your monocled cobra to a group of kids and let it wrap around their necks?

Man...

But think of what will happen next if he gets tagged. The snake will be killed, The media will spread it out across the world, and more reptiles will be taken away from responsible people.

Thanks too a 14 year old and a venomous snake, they are banned were I live.

People.

No Matter what we say, He is going to be a "man" and get venomous,
and its going to get on the news, so i really hope karma kicks him in the ass,
Even if the eyelash viper doesn't kill him, he will get "confident" and get a more dangerous species, and THAT one will tag him, = bye bye moron

Ophiuchis, your snakes consist of one ball python, have you even ever SEEN an eyelash viper? You are nobody to tell this guy what to do. You insult and belittle him, when you yourself have zero knowledge of the topic in hand.

This isn't a reptile forum, this is a fish forum, a lot of the people here have limited knowledge of reptiles. Go and ask the same question on reptileforums.com. My advice is that if you have your heart set on an eyelash viper, find someone who can teach you the correct handling methods, and maybe keep an ATB for a little while, so you can get used to handling a snappy arboreal snake, and manouevering around one. Definitely try to get in touch with some local venemous keepers.
