Was checking out one of my local website, and found the following..

http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-pets-other-pets-for-sale-VENOMOUS-SNAKES-FOR-SALE-TRADE-W0QQAdIdZ28969952

The yellow viper that's eating a pinkie caught my eye.. The bright yellow is pretty amazing.. Im wondering, what is that kind of viper? Eyelash Viper? How big will they grow and will the color stay when it becomes adult?

Thinking of getting one, cause it makes a nice show tank.. and its a lot cheaper compare to Green Tree Python :D

Just wanna know some general info about it ^^ and YES I KNOW.. its venomous ^^

yeah, thats an eyelash. Yes the yellow will stay. Some are block yellow, some have patches of other colours, but there is a more "normal colour" to them, if you look at them on google images, but obviously these bright yellows are very popular. From what I have been told, there are better arboreal vipers to start with than this species.
A green tree python and these are very very different, venemous is always going to be a different kettle of fish. In the long run, I don't think it will be much cheaper with the preparations you may have to make for venemous.
I take it you are also in an area of toronto it is legal to keep venemous also?

I agree with Davo. There's a whole lot more to preparing to keep a venomous snake than just the cost of the snake. First there's an experience/training level involved, then there's the proper licensing if any. Next there's making sure its enclosure is escapeproof, and also making sure any housemates are okay with a hot herp in the home.

Of course, you need to plan ahead for the inevitable; i.e. when you do get bitten (it happens to everyone). Can you afford antivenin, does your local hospital supply the neccessary type (not all snake venom uses the same kind, BTW)? Do your housemates/friends know what do do if you get bitten? Will your health insurance cover you if you get bitten by an exotic hot?

All things to think about...personally, I'd hold out for a tree python or boa.

Just did a little research, they arent that big.. around 18" and they are not aggressive snake (dont touch or provoke, usually they dont bite) and their venom is not that deadly unless a large amount were inject into the body..So managable and affordable snake ^^

and Im gonna move out of the city soon ^^ to some rural area ^^

Just one question though.....have you ever had experience with a hot snake? (through a pane of glass doesn't count)

nope, but everyone get their first time :D

because its small, and non aggressive, it should be a good starter of venomous snake ;)

you dont see me bragging about starting off with a juvi cobra :nilly:

You're a fool if you do this and from what I've read they get 18-32" long.

Do yourself a favor and get an Amazon tree boa.

Its Idiots like you, that give the herp Scene a bad name..
A damn cobra would be ALOT more manageble then a eyelash viper.
Sure there only 2-3 ft long as adults.. your also forgetting they are ARBOREAL and catch and eat BIRDS out of the AIR in the wild... How do you plan to clean a tank.. with a pissed off Venomous arboreal in there? you can't just snake hook it out... They wrap around the perches,
Do yourself a favor, and get a corn snake.. its obvious you only want these reptiles to try to be cool,
You don't even have the experience to handle a ATB let alone a GTP/ETB.. and worse off.. a Eyelash,
Just the way you talk.. is enough to prove you should not get one.
Just because its bite is not "Deadly" Doesn't mean it can't kill you.
Good luck if your alerigic to the venom, OR the antivenin..

Its generally recommended that you "mentor" under someone with hot experience for a couple years before diving into getting one yourself.

Generally, if you think you're ready, or have to ask if you're ready, you're not ready at all. I can tell you right now, judging from your attitude, you're definitely NOT ready.

Its kinda like wrestling an alligator and you're wrapping tape/rope around its jaws; when you think you've wrapped it enough, do it about 3-4 more times.

I agree with SnakeEyes and Ryan...you're an idiot if you go thru with this, and it is idiots like you that only hurt the reputation of herp keepers everywhere. You WILL get bit, probably end up going to the ER, it WILL end up in the news and it will be one more strike against the herp community, probably resulting in yet another unnecessary regulation against what reptiles we're allowed to keep.

Thanks for nothing, imbecile.
