From what i can see so far the Vonts have a much more bold pattern than the Esconcidos but mine are still young. Both are beautiful in my opinion. I can't wait till they hit the 5-6 inch mark.

I'm completely miffed by everyone elses ability to see a completely different fish between these guys and an Escondido. The only difference I see is that the Vonts have more of a yellow base color inbetween there pearls and the Escondido's have more or a maroon. Otherwise these fish are nearly identical.

Both are nice fish but there is very little difference in them to me at least.

It doesn't clearly state on that forum that those fish in the bucket are Flowerhorns. I see another thread about to be closed. Those fish are Escondidos in my opinion and prehaps an ID mistake was made but i see no reason to start with the name calling and trash talk.

i didnt call anyone a name nor did i trash talk to anyone so i dont understand why you quoted me. i figured guess flowerhorn from the pic. all those fish seem to have monster head humps. the cars ive kept had humps but not like that. thats all i was saying. i mean everyone in that bucket seem to have a flowerhornish kok

Using a 3yr old pic of a FH to describe a new cichlid is....interesting to say the least. I mean it was stated clearly on one of the threads when someone asked something to the effect of "whats up with the fish in the bucket?"..response was "F0 Vontheillo is whats up." They are good looking fish all by themselves so I dont see the need to use a different picture. Especially one of a FH (or a pic of a questionable fish from that link). Some peeps wont care which is fine. But as a purist I do. I thought we had cleared all this up but now there are even more questions.

2 different occasions where drama could have been avoided now by just providing standard information. Yeah, I see another thread being closed. Ugggghhhh!

But it DID clearly state on the thread on this forum that they were F0 Carpinte Vontihellos.

No one is name calling and I don't think anyone is expecting a response from the seller. It's unfortunate that with all of the controversy, comment and research on this particular fish, that the seller would go this route.

I'll say it again. It's all about your rep.

What photos are you basing that on? I'm not trying to be critical, honestly.

From what I've seen there are no photos of fully mature Vonts against which to compare Escons & Chairels (which I consider pretty much the same fish).

The variability of any species, not just this one, requires a fair number of fish to be compared before any generalizations can be made, and in this case we've got ZERO photos of adult Vonts so far.

I believe they were talking about the OP

You are probably right. That is also a picture of a little guy though. As you probably already know, cichlids as juvies look very little like cichlids as adults. We need photos of adults. That's why it's so disappointing that the seller chose to post that "imposter" picture.

Agreed.

And I think we can all agree that regardless of what monkier you want to attach to the OP's fish, they are very nice looking, have great colors, etc

Now we just have to wait for them to grow out! Keep us posted
