How is it not a problem to have a fish with that body shape in a tank that is not even as wide as the fish is long?Water;5006682; said:Yes lol. A lot of people here stress that Oscars need to be kept in 75 gallons minimum. I don't think so. The bigger the better but a 55 gallon will be able to house them for life. As long as you have adequate filtration and do water changes regularly then it shouldn't be a problem.
You are giving terrible advice.i agree. i say 125 is bare minimum. but mines in a 200g and id never keep him in anthing smaller. to me, 199 and less is unaccpetable loldrgnfrc13;5006735; said:How is it not a problem to have a fish with that body shape in a tank that is not even as wide as the fish is long? You are giving terrible advice.

When it comes to 75g vs. 125g as a minimum, it just depends on your personal preference. A 75g is large enough to keep an oscar healthy and meet its minimum requirements, but the question is: is it right? In my opinion, it is fine for a bare minimum, but I can definitely see why someone may think otherwise.burzumaske20;5007727; said:You're kidding right?I have a 10 inch Tiger Oscar in a 125 gallon aquarium. He loves it there, even I have other fishes with him.Like a 4 inch green terror,6 inch jack dempsey,5 inch severum,3 inch salvini,3 inch texas,2 inch black convict,3 inch firemouth. Now before you say I am overcrowded, the salvini is a female,GT female, convict female, and 2 female ob peacocks. So I am not really understanding how a 125 gallon is a bare minimum.I can understand the purpose of this thread about him having 2 oscars in a 10 gallon tank, which is nuts.To me those are good for 3 inch cichlids or below to grow a bit bigger, until being put with the larger cichlids.
