Most tropical Channa should do well
Large
Channa aurantimaculata
Channa barca

Small
Channa bleheri
Channa andrao
Channa gachua

The list is way too long

my auranti stop eating, stop moving and get cloudy eyes at 28degrees after about 6 months.

if the snakehead comes from that region of india then it need colder temps, if its from malaysia indonesia and other tropical countires then its ok.

That's great feedback, thanks for all the info guys.
Different to what I expected. I thought most of them needed colder temps or at least a spell at colder temps.
I had a andrao for a month or so but I learnt what a great escape artist they are unfortunately.
Will try a group of 3 or more I think next time.

As far as i know Channa Aurantimaculata need a Winter time with lower temps.

I would go with Pleuropthalma or Marulioides.
You can even keep them with tankmates.
Not needed, the ones collected from West Bengal don't need no cold temps.

I kept one for nearly 3&half years, from 5" - 16-17" ( not measured against a ruler though). Absolutely no issues with temperature.
Was my first ever Channa species

I kept aurantimaculata in southern India, i live in a place where summer temps are 38-40 deg celcius.

India is a tropical country.

Are you sure , Your aurantimaculata got cloudy eyes due to high temperature, could it be for some other reason.

I have kept an aurantimaculata only once.
