so it seems that the general consensus is 'NO we do not want to see a monster fish tank on Mythbusters.' Way to take a fun thing and ruin it everyone.

chrisdef15;1668313; said:Yes i know its a downer. I know it would be cool and ide like to see it too. Im just trying to get across its not a myth. Which is exactly what is being said on the mythbusters site. A myth is according to the dictionary is - a popular belief or unfounded notion. That a hugely heavy tank will drop through a floor is a fact so doesnt really fit into the show.
Um wouldn't a normal floor just be your average up to code apartment floor i can't imagine that there are millions of different designs. not to mention this is all in good fun so y not pull the stick out a little friend....Ok so ya wanna play it like this do you. Ok well what is NORMAL circumstances? Is there a NORMAL floor in all parts of the world or even the US, nope all different? Is there a NORMAL sized or weight tank, no there all different. Im not disputing they will have fun recreating the "myth" im arguing its not a myth in the first place and is impossible to test NORMALLY because what is NORMAL in these circumstances? What you said made no sense BUSTED.
Fish Eat Fish;1668542; said:The rest IS a myth bud. Would the tank make it through all four floors? If so then great, if not... how far? Seriously you have said what you think and helped to ruin the mood so be happy with the damage you have done and just move on.
Fish Eat Fish;1668542; said:The thing that you STILL FOR THE THIRD TIME dont understand is that...any building constructor could tell you what type of floor used for these type of buildings is the weakest...that would be the model to use...then test to see how much water (I think you will be surprised) it takes to go through...so that means only one large scale test! Why would you ever test anything but the weakest when all your trying to do is prove if it is possible??? There is NO logic to doing that.![]()
Fish Eat Fish;1668542; said:Ill illustrate it for you with a simple example.
Lets say that you and I are having an argument and I wanted to prove to you that I could break a board with nothing more than my hand...and the size of the board was never specified...IMO the thinest board that fits along with the description would be the ONLY one to use to definitively prove that its possible. Maybe in your mind you would start with a nice thick chunk of oak and work your way down...but believe me ill be laughing all the way to the hospital
what you say sounds like you have a point but when broken down your logic is nonexistent.
Not to mention that even if this part of the myth took no test to figure out...then the rest of the myth is still entirely testable.
now please stop trying to just ruin this for the rest of us that want to see it.
Thank You
Fish Eat Fish;1668575; said:By the way...on this very site there is a tank of almost 800 gallons with a 200 gallon sump on I believe the 16th floor. Unless you have tested this its very ignorant to claim you know 100% of what the outcome will be.
