Its been over a month. Are you doing anything? Any success? All the advice in the world does nothing unless you use it.

Well I have cut out all fast/greasy/bad food. No pizza not eating out as much as I used to. I have tried to make everything a little healthier (wheat instead of white bread, corn instead of flour tortillas) I have strated eating breakfast and tried to eat more, smaller meals throughout the day and have tried to stop eating a couple hours before bed. Also I am starting to jog about every other day or run on the elliptical in our work out room. I haven't gotten back on a scale yet because I'm not going to get on a scale every day and stress about my weight. But I am starting to feel healthier and not feel the need to eat large meals and eat all the unhealthy food. I am starting to like carrots without ranch ! lol. I am definitely making a change....not all at once but I am getting there. I feel a lot healthier

I got my CLA from a health food store like GNC.
The best way to jog for weight loss I find is:
1. Use an iPod!
2. start walking and jog for short bursts say 1 minute at a time or until that next street I can see waaaay up there..haha
3. Work up to being able to jog longer.
4. But for best weight loss it is best to fast walk then jog, fast walk then jog. You want to have your heart going in bursts.
5. I also start and end with stretches. And have a hot bath in epsom salts to reduce muscle pain and dissipate any lactic acid.

Oh and don't drink a lot of water before you run. I don't bring any water with me (as a general rule just keep yourself well hydrated at least 8 glasses a day). Drink water afterwards though!

Thank you, you have no idea how much that helped. I have never wanted to run because I can't run for very long or a long distance. But If running in spurts is what I should be doing then that's awesome! I have an ipod and that helps forsure if i'm going alone. Thanks for the advice!

A common misconception about running;

You don't have to run to get into a fat burning and/or cardio zone. There are a lot of studies that show that brisk walking is often better than running. It gets the heart rate up while being much easier on the body. Running is very jarring and for some people like myself with multiple knee and ankle injuries. Walking or workouts like the Elliptical are a great option.

Look into VO2Max values. You don't have to get your heart going at max rate to burn fat or even do a cardio workout! Keeping your heart rate at a value of 50%-80% of your VO2Max for 1/2 hour a day (depending on your goals, ie losing weight or cardio) can do wonders in a relatively short period of time.

Wow that's interesting. It's just the thing is that I am a fast walker all the time. I fast walk at work, walking the dog, walking to the store. So it doesn't even really get my heart rate up anymore. It is just natural to me to walk fast.

Do what you need to get your heart rate up. I'd be surprised if walking for 1/2 hour didn't get your heart rate up.

Try it and check your pulse.

good job! and you hit on a good point - health is more important than the numbers on a scale

Well when I'm running and then stop and continue to fast walk, It will KEEP my heart rate up. But it doesn't get my heart rate up like running does.

actually running just makes you breath more than walking. your heart rate should be about the same, unless your in really bad shape...then its going to pound trying to get oxygen to your muscles.

try doing cardio in the morning to boost your metabolism.

i get up at 0430, do cardio/run, eat breakfast, either a lean protien shake or cereal and breakfast sandwich (eggs sausage ect). work by 0700, bet off work between 1800-20:00 (6-8pm) eat dinner, go to the gym for about an an hour and 30 mins, do heavy and core lifts., then make a high calorie protien shake and then go to bed.

by doing cardio in the monrings, i have a hard time putting on a keeping on weight, but its necessary to stay in shape. so it should help you out with boosting your metabolism and cutting a few inches.

and dont base gains on your weight or on definition and measurements base it on how you feel, how much more energy you have and strength gains.
besides, everybody likes a girl with curves.
