Rig up my 100ft python and run it outside. Siphon about 40% out then hook her up to the sink and fill her back up, While it's filling back up I'm adding prime in the stream of new water. Works for me, no chlorine and levels are good. One pitcher at a time mate? wow thats got to take ages. I have around 1000 gallons to changed and I thought that was a hassle.

exactly like mine, cept i have a 50 foot python, and only have 200 gallons:)

I use a python and do about a 25% W/C weekly. Add in Aquasafe as it's filling.

I think you need a Python man. I doubted my needing one for my 55gal for a while, but when I finally bought one, it was love at first use.

What's your WC routine? I wanna know if i'm doing it right.
1: Use a pitcher to remove water, 1 pitcherful at a time, dumping water into my bathtub and first netting out any fish that got sucked into the pitcher and putting them back.
2: once 50% is gone, i fill up 1 pitcherful at a time. Once it's back to the usual level, I add aqua plus.
3: Use the net to direct all the crap and particles that get kicked up into the filter.
4: Panic because one of my Mosquitofish is gone, thinking it jumped, pass out, then find her under the castle. :screwy:
Is this ok? How do you do it/

its good that your using aquaplus, however it should be in the new water before its put in the tank. Any friendly little bacteria people will be hurt by the nasty chlorine in tap water. i do 15% twice a week on my 90 gall using api stresscoat and a 5 gallon bucket ;) x:)

I have a 180 gallon and 65 gallon tank. I use a python to drain and fill. Water changes are weekly or bi-weekly (when I'm lazy).

I have a 125, 55 and a 30gal, all get weekly 50-60%. I used to do the siphon and 5 gal bucket thing, now I just use a garden hose. They cost around $10 US for 50'. My tanks are in my basement so I use the floor drain and then fill from the sink, the hose threads right on. I siphon solids when needed. and sometimes I siphon gas just to stick it to the man

Also, no additives here.

24 posts before someone noticed this :(

if you are going to add untreated tap water to the tank every bottle of water conditioner ive ever used has said to treat the tank first then add the water...

not the hugest deal in the world though.. so dont sweat it too hard.. atleast yer doing water changes.. no one is perfect

in the summer i syphon to rubbermaid tubs on the floor then syphon/gravelvac the water/poop out the door to the lawn... then hook up my clear vinyl hose to the shower and refill the tubs.. add prime.. hook the pump to the vinyl hose and refill the tanks...

in the winter i do the same but i pump the water to the toilet.. then dump the poop/sand sludge in the toilet

using the tubs measures the water for me so i dont have to guess and have to do bucket topoffs

35% out the window, 35% back in through the hose.

No chemicals, no problems.

I would need to own stock in Seachem to have enough for all of the water changes I do.
