Water change surprise!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The fry have been free swimming for a couple days now. It’s made it easier to catch them. I have over 30 for sure, but didn’t keep track as I caught them as I’m sure not all will survive.
They are actively eating the fry food I’ve been feeding them:) Hopefully if wont take long for them to put on some size.

Oh gosh! I’d be hanging ugly fruit everywhere and spraying peppermint. Lol I don’t mind spiders too much, but that’s because we never have venomous ones here.

That’s exciting:) that would give me more incentive to clean it regularly;)
I’m surprised the fry did ok in my sump. The intake is very turbulent in the first chamber and then they couldn’t get past the next chamber that holds all the mechanical filters. That’s where I’ve been catching them.
I think I may have caught the last of them today. But I’ll keep checking.
Eh most of the spiders in the u.s aren't a major threat, the black widow is so difficult to get to bite, that many (brave or stupid) scientist weren't able to irritate them into biting .

And the brown recluse can't technically envenomate you by itself, as it doesn't have the jaw strength, it has to have external pressure for the jaws to penetrate the human skin, such as bare hand smacking one against a wall in just the right way.

Sorry for the derail.

Sounds fun, they are rather reluctant to bite, but they always get into places where it's difficult to grab them, makes a cool nano pet, a couple crickets or other insects a week keeps them fed, next time I come that way I'll see if I can stop by and grab a few, a few years back I found a beautiful aberrant yellow bodied-orange legged brown widow, which I wish I kept...
Take em! They are pretty common. Have to be careful turning things over around here. I'll trade you 5 jars of spiders for a nice Ryukin lol

The fry are doing really well. Very active little guys.

I did a quick check in my sump this morning and saw there is a second round of fry that hatched! I was able to get 18 out, but still saw about five more I couldn’t get to.

These guys joined their week old siblings.

I caught over 100 more fry that hatched last night/this morning. Still more in there too.
I swear the week old ones look twice the size of the newly hatched ones.
I haven’t seen the giant danios being “active” but everyone including my rainbows are a little bang up looking. I so can’t wait to see these guys at 1” in size!
