i pull water out of tanks w/ a bucket. use some of it for my plants and the rest down the toilet. when filling back up i keep a pump in a bucket w/ hose and take it to the nearest faucet. add water, stretch the hose to whatever tank, turn pump on. i dechlor in the bucket and sometimes directly to the tank.
for my ponds in the basement, i have ball valves on the intake to the filter. all i do is turn the valve and attach a hose. the hose goes to my utility sink drain. then i do the pump-in-bucket trick to fill the ponds back up..Im basically cutting my work in half that way.
