...Do you also add a dechlorinator?
If I remember correctly, chlorine takes about a day to evaporate, and chloramine takes about a week. A minute isn't going to do anything...

chloramines can take several weeks to break down. you really need chemicals like prime to break down chloramines. the length of time it would take to do it naturally would mean its not really feasible.

tank size: 180g and 75g

stock:180 3xoscars, 2xpleco, 1xpacu 75g 4xfemalebetta, 1xmalebetta, 3xcherrybarb, 1xfireeel, 1xblackspottedeel, 1x 4"silveraro, 6xkuhliloaches, 1xhorsefaceloach

water change amount:180g 50%every sat 25% weds, 75g 25% weds, 25% sat

new water temp: stick digital thermometer inside faucet and match tanks temp, then direct to the tank using 50footer python.

dechlorinartion method: nope!

You can always use a 300 gallon water tote, and have that with sitting water if you want to do it naturally. That's how I do it for my indoor Koi pond. :screwy:

I don't de-chlorinate either. But I have started with my new Frontosa tank just to be safe, but have had NO problems at all not doing it.

do your fish seem to have a reaction to th chloramine/chlorine after water changes?

Most of my tanks get 25%-50% weekly. I pour the correct dosage of prime into a 5g bucket and turn on the faucet to the tub. I've done it so many times I know how much to turn each one to get around 78-80 degrees.

i've read about some people using cold water for water changes and some people using heated water for water changes, i was wondering how you guys do it?

here is the format.....

tank size: 260

stock: Central Americans

water change amount: 50% weekly

new water temp: As close to the temperature of the tank water as possible

dechlorinartion method:
prime

I run a hose directly from the tap into the tank and add the dechlorinator as it refills. I attempt to match the temp as best as I can but I have, in the past, accidentally added slightly colder water with no adverse effects.
