80-gallon Large L-114 pleco medium goldy L-14 Pleco small BN pleco 12 cyptochromis tang. cichlids. 25% w/c weekly add prime to tank then turn on hot water and cold water all the way which will give you about 70 degree water. Been doing this for many years without any promblems whatsoever.

If there is to big of a difference in the temperature of the incoming water and the water that is already in the tank, the tank water temperature could change very quickly to the detriment of the inhabitants.I have always used Aquarium Phamaceuticals Tapwater Conditioner for my water changes.

i am curious as to how water changes takes place in indoor ponds as obviously they dont use prime.

do they just drip chlorinated water in at the desired rate?

well, maybe they do, i just thought they wudnt for 2 reasons:

1. it'd cost a fortune!!!!

2. most of them actually drip water in at a slow and steady rate

i dont know if they do really... thats why im asking lol

1. prime is very cost effective stuff. a 500ml bottle of regular prime treats 5000 US gallons but a 500ml bottle of the pond prime treats 10,000 US gallons.

couldnt tell you about number 2 though.

tank size:150 gallon (main tank)

stock:community

water change amount: 50%-60%

new water temp: exactly the same as tank by feel

dechlorinartion method: no chlorine in my well

When I set up my tank in my house I ran everything to it to make things easy. I ran cold and hot water pipes up to it and teed them together so I could mix while filling. I ran a drain line from under the stand down into the basement and out to my gutter. While filling with mixed hot/cold water is great to keep temperatures stable I do have to becareful not to get too much suspended bubbles from my water heater. The best way to get around this is to fill as slow as needed. The speed depends on temp of water before it is heated.

tank size: 500 gal hydroponic

stock: 2x Ryukin Gold fish, 1 Koi, 1 Commet, 2x common plecos, 3x rubber nose plecos, 3x Ottos, 2x albino simese alge eaters

water change amount: 20~30% weekly

new water temp: under 10 degrees C

dechlorinartion method: none, I am on well water

Low and slow so as to not shock the system. Water changes for me are an all day event. Tank temp target is 75 ~77F so the faucet just dribbles in.
