waterchanges?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do 50% changes every three days or so in both my tanks. Prime for dechlor.

You need to try and get the water temp close to that of the tank. It doesn't have to be exact, and probably when people say "cool" water they mean 1-5 degrees below the tank temp. Using heated or really cold water outside the normal tank temp can mess things up.

tank size: multiples.. 8 tanks atm various sizes

stock:Guppies, Oscars, fire eels, Gar, many others.

water change amount: depending on the tanks.. min 20% a week. Oscar and Fire eel tanks get 20-40% 2x a week as needed.

new water temp: slightly colder then tank temps. between 70-82 depending on the tank.

dechlorinartion method: On well water, water run threw softening system. so use none. no chlorine in well, well tested yearly. On occasion i will use NovaAqua or Stress Coat for new fish/ sick ones.

I try to match the temp as close as possible. In the winter months I try make the new water a bit warmer than the tank water if possible, in the summer I add slightly cooler water. I try and do about a 30-35% water change once a week. I use Nov Aqua usually, and water straight from the tap. The city water I have is very hard.

1,000G indoor pond.
WC 50% weekly. Water is pumped out to waiting drums lined up in the garden waiting to be used to water the lawn and plants. Saving water!

I don't use dechlor as I drip in my water replacement which takes anywhere between 8-15 hours.

As the water is dripping in, the fish have to "suffer" swimming around a 500G in the meantime.

My nitrates are at 5-10ppm. Fish are growing like weeds and very healthy.
