Having a large lungfish attack a much larger softshell turtle.

I have 5 pumpkinseeds and my cats like to drink from the tank. One day after feeding the fish I sat down in the chair acrose the room from the tank and relaxed. My big fat gray cat (as seen in the pic to your left) jumped on the stand. The fish all sudenly turn and look at the cat. The cat then starts to drink from the tank. Insted of hiding the fish slowly begin to go over to the cat. Out of noware the domonat male atackes the cat(it just hit its nose). That cat freked out so bad and it hapend abut for a week. But, the fish just stoped like they got bored tring to get the cat.

One of my pacus jumped out of the tank and my cats, all six of them were biting and clawing him. by the time i found him he was extremely dry and bloody, i thought he was dead and when i picked him up i saw him take a breath. i threw him back in and he sunk to the bottom. I checked on him later and he was swimming around. A week latewr he was 100% again!!

wow that is great!! Bad experience with happy ending.

Back in highschool, in prehistoric times, I had a running incident of feeders disappearing from my holding vat. I was sure my brother was feeding out my preds to show off to his friends. I accused him, he denied it, blah, blah, blah...
After a few weeks of these continuing disappearances, I happened to come home early from school (nearly graduation) and noticed what looked like a leak from one of the saltwater tanks. Closer examination revealed a wet trail going from the tank to the feeder vat.
It turned out that my mediterranean octopus figured out that it could crawl out of its tank, gorge itself on feeders, and make it back to its tank without any adverse effects. I guess the trail was dried out enough to not be noticed by the time I usually arrived home.
I clamped the octos cover down so it couldn't forage for itself. At least I had an answer to why it was off its feed lately.
BTW, I still have yet to apologize to my brother for accusing him of feeder theft.
wow that is a really special story.. so funny too.. they say Octopus are extremely smart and being they don't live very long 2 or 3 years he was enjoying himself........... . :grinno:

We looked in our large aquarium on the top of the stand and thought "hmmmm the red devil is missing"We looked everywhere,no luck.We thought the cat had eaten the 7 inch fish.We started feeding our aquariums and there on the bottom rack in a tank full of tiny corralled cichlids was our red devil. He had only a small hole in the back to get out as well as getting in the small whole on top of the bottom aquarium.

A long time ago, I had a shoal of guppies, about twenty or so. Never saw a fry once. Anyway, they started eating each others and eventually there were twoone day. The next day... there was only one. The day after, I saw a floating ball; it turned out that the guppy tried to eat itself.

Never thought a fish would cannibalize itself.

When I was chasing my largest Indo with a net to sell to Rallysman I had a baby (5") aro in a breeder net. With all the commotion the net tipped over and the aro swam out. Well I thought hed be safe since I was in the damn tank with a net trying to catch a fish so surely they be too stressed to eat...WRONG! The indo I was CHASING swam up and ate the aro on the run! BTW Rallysman still hasnt paid me back! :D

At work we keep our feeder tank behind the wall of tanks out of site. Our golden wonder killis are kept in a tank at the top (about 6' off of the ground counting the highest point of the tank) of the wall which is about 2 feet away horizontally from the feeder tank. Not once but twice while scooping feeders I caught a killi! The lucky SOBs must have jumped through what little space they could possibly fit and end up landing in the feeder tank!

One night I went to feed my constantly begging oscar. I opened the lid and grabbed the bag of Hikari Bio-gold. My affinity for fish food got the best of me, and I started reading the back of the bag, scanning through the ingredients. The bastard oscar decided he couldn't wait anymore and leaped completely out of the tank, hitting me in the chest and falling on the floor. Scared the crap out of me, sending pellets spewing onto my rug and me scrambling to chase a flopping oscar around my living room. No injury to the fish, I broke his fall. I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to eat a few pellets off the carpet while I was chasing him.
