weirdest fish incident

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got one, not that weird but hey...

I came home and I had many tanks then so I go to each tank and feed them. As I went to my 30 gallon spilo tank, I notice the large pleco i had in there was floating belly up. Damn its dead I thought as I gave its belly a little poke, and it goes flying around the tank, nearly scared the crap out of me.

I had a rainbow snakehead that would eat from my hand, outside the tank. I would put a frozen ball of brine or bloodworms in the cup of my hand, and dip it in the water, rainbow (bleheri) would smell it, search around, and find my hand, swim in it, and id pull it out of the water and it would just sit there munching, and then Id put it back in the tank.

This thread is a good laugh!!!

A few months ago my daughter and I stopped in the LFS. I didnt need any new fish but saw some Glow eyed tetras that my daughter just had to have. I figured they were big enough my pictus would leave them alone. I had 3 bagged up.

Get home put the bag in the tank and ..... get the release point. Two jump out and I can't find the third. I figured they were in a rush to get in the tank and laughed. I looked at the bag yet again and did not see the third and figured he jumped in the tank too.

I go to the sink to dump the water into the drain which has a garbage disposal that I had just dumped down a bunch of mac and cheese my daughter didnt eat.

I see a fish fall into the sink, I panic and watch as it slips right into the garbage disposal.

At this time I am sitting there saying "sh*t!!" my daughter is freaking out screaming that I have to save the fish. She is 7yrs old. She is crying and yelling at me for doing such a thing.

I am more worried about what to do. To turn it on and grind him up would just be wrong. I can't leave it to suffer... I am NOT going to stick my hand down there.

Pull apart the black cover and peek down there. There he is laying there, a eye staring at me just telling me how bad of a fish keeper I am. The guilt sets in. He is laying in noodles. My daughter is screaming at me to "GET HIM!".

I stick my hand down there, head held up in the air trying not to gag. I have a weak stomach. I can see my hand getting ground up in there too. It was just gross and slimy. I feel around with my nails and fingertips (have long nails) and by this time it had been 5 minutes.

Finally I feel him and grab him with my nails and pull him out. He is not twitching or moving. I say what the heck and toss him into the tank and he swims sideways for a bit. My daughter is telling me how bad I am as she is watching the fish like she is it's mother.

It started to swim fine and we still have the fish. My daughter still doesnt let me forget what I did to him!

I had to empty my old 60gl corner tank at my parents house, they were tired of caring for it while i did not live with them. So i told them id give away all the fish and just leav it runing si i wouldnt have to fully start over later.

after it had been rid of all fish for 5 months, the glass covered in algea, I decided i would drain it and take it to my new apartment. after filling it back up and letting the fluval run again i noticed movement when i got up late to get some water. The 2 peacock eeels that i purchased nearly a year earlier at 2" were still in the gravel, not having been fed managed to grow quite a bit.

wow:eek:
how big were the eels?

They were a good 4-5" and looked well fed. but when i stocked the tank with african cichlids, they must have got spooked because i found them behind the stand dried up on the floor during monthly maint.

i was bummed they survived all that just to end up like little rasins on the floor.

This reminds me of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom where Indy and Shorty were stuck in that crushing room where that girl had to pull a lever to stop the motion...

Well here is my story I had two African dwarf frogs in a Small tank one time. Well the Male liked to BREED,BREED,ANd BREED! So one night the female ( my best female) jumped out of the tank into the feamle bettas tank below. Well the female betta got scared and jumped out of her tank. Well then the female frog jumped out of that tank, andd went somewhere in the house. Well the male African dwarf frog went looking for her. And my mom found him in her bathroom.

How do I know all this happened you ask or wonder. Well I got it all on tape. But deleted the tape.
