Oh, I've caught caterpillars and grown them into moths.

i thought they would be butterflies

Slugs. They lived happily in a critter keeper for months before the following happened

Live Slug found crawling on outside of Newt tank.

Dead Slug found on desk between Newt tank and Slug tank.

Slugs moved to basement until a warm day when they can be released.

Baby Slugs found on toy chest in basement next to Slug tank.

Slugs released in 58 degree day.

"Tiny" Earthworm put in tank months earlier is now 4" long, found in tank while releasing Slugs.

I don't know if it would be considered a pet but a friend used to freeze bees, and when they could barely move he tied a string around it and let it unfreeze, and walked it around as if it had a leash on it. They died pretty fast...

BTW, not really a friend more like a person i knew.

The weirdest being my polypterus delhezi. Nothing rare that was terrestial.
