I have a Daiwa GC100 that has been a pretty good spincast reel. I bought it for my nephews/nieces to use, but I have used it a few times. It's actually fun to cast, but for serious fishing I use a spinning reel or a level-wind trolling reel.

Thanks ordered pfluegers but if it doesnt work out will look into Daiwa aslong as its spincast

I got a Quantum Energy E30PTI-B spin cast and it is great. No problems with it and it casts really good.

Tell you the truth I am not familiar with drag I used to set it so fish couldnt pull line but never lost one that way.

I have tendency to ignore all that line weight lure weight to me that makes fishing a pain.
I am a simple person and not really into that but looking into it more now after reading this info.

As a whole my fishing is ugly stick rods or my mini coil rod same line for all the reels and lure weight means nothing .
The spincast reel has allowed me this luxury but it broke over the summer as others have due to large cichlids and fished with spin reel and worse fishing and casting ever.

Thus went with spincast should be here this week .

Thanks

I would pair the reel with a nice stiff graphite rod with a pistol-type handle. Load it up with some fresh 10 pound monofilament and then set the drag fairly tight (you should be able to pull out line with some effort). You'll be amazed at how far you can cast compared to the 20 pound line, especially with smaller lures!

Spincast reels do have inherent drawbacks, but for the kind of fishing you scribe they will work fine. Millions of fish have been caught on $9.99 Zebco rods! :)

Daiwa make some nice reels go to the nearest gander mountain and see what they got the gander mountain in my area has a great selection.

Daiwa is good I have one of their spin reels but the reel is constantly tangled up ,etc due to me .

I have shimano and Daiwa good reels not cheap junk but the cheap spincast has been for me lol . I cast like a pro with them.

I fish almost weekly with friends and their fathers and have learned very much over the past few years. Your problem with the spinning and baitcasting is just ignorance hehe, you don't really want to take the time to learn. I am going to add that fishing with 20 lb line will catch fish 40+ pounds. The largest size you will probably ever need for canal or lake fishing is 6-8 pound test. I have caught a few fish 10+ pounds on 6 pound line.

That is true and I am not to patient to begin with .I bought a baitcasting reel while back couldnt cast to save my life big pain .
Than bought a spin reel and better but still not like the good old spincast.

Yes it looks nice lol but just couldnt cast so use it for boat fishing off side of boat. I was casting out like 10 feet if that and the spool became tangled mess.

There was almost an arrogance in my fishing with my cheap spincast reels .
I was the king of my area with those spincast reels . Other fishermen looked at me strange but the last laugh was mine as my reel cast further than their pro reels.

Oh well once I get it the King of the canals is back lol without it my summer fishing was terrible. I did give the spin reel a fair try but wasnt for me .
I am glad that I was able to find a good brand through this forum as my other reels broke every couple months . Big cichlids tear them up. If this breaks to no big deal will replace it.

should be here this week

Aye, spinning and LOW-PROFILE baitcasting rods aren't as widely used for peacock bass fishing as round-reel baitcasters are.

:)Well, looks like your sticking with the spincaster. I got an old walkman I can sell you...

I would stick with the line that the reel recomends (not 20, i imagine) and set the drag properly. The reel should last a lot longer this way. Get some reel oil, or Reel Magic (comes in a handy spray bottle), and use before and after every trip. Get some life out of your investment. I have fished more in week then most avid fish in a year (alaskan saltwater guide here) and with proper care, most any reel should last years, even a spincast.

LoL this is almost comical!

If Alabama wins Saturday and I follow them to Miami and you are near there, lets meet up at a canal of your choice and I will show you who is "King" when it comes to fishing!

My reel arrives Fri at the office will need a bit of practice but get ready for the spincast canal king to punish those who dare challenge my spincast reel casting ability.

I take no prisoners I simply humiliate but due to your help the humiliation will not be to severe but bad enough to make my point.

I cast like a pro with those type reels . The other reels are a horror of tangled line and other problems.
