"Well-said?" Are you kidding me?

This guy can't even form one complete sentence in the english language, much less earn any credibility among the opponents to keeping venomous reptiles.

I think what the reptile-keeping hobby in general lacks is a united front as well as a good ambassador. People are bickering on message boards about one sick viper while the USFW Service proposes a bill this year that would ban the keeping of many commonly kept species of pythons and boas.

He's free handling a live (yes sick, but still alive) Rhino viper! And taking pics of it!

that's what I said worried me... looks like a damn stupid thing to do... gotta question why he's doing that.

I see a lot of tarantula bites from people being over confident.

Seen some pretty bad centipede bites as well.

Tarantula bites don't even compare to something like that! Tarantulas are like a bad bee sting. Even centipede venom causes incredible pain but not loss of limbs and/or death like a Bitis bite. There are only a couple recorded centipede envenomation fatalities and they are all infants or children.

Good article here; http://www.wemjournal.org/wmsonline...&issn=1080-6032&volume=012&issue=02&page=0093

Rhino vipers have essentially the same venom as a Gaboon viper. I'd post pics of the bite results, but they're far too graphic. There are very few recorded envenomations, but the ones that are recorded speak for themselves...http://www.wlwt.com/news/2380861/detail.html

Yea, only a few spiders are known to have a venom powerful enough to get you going to a hospital.

But that wasn't my point, just saying people that are used to dealing with things take them for granted. I've seen "Docile" snakes bite people, predictable spiders jump and take off, unpredictably, i've seen a kid outside holding his pet bird, that just randomly flew away off him, birds been out plenty other times.

So things just happen, it was not a very wise decision to hold that snake regardless of its condition. He just seems like he's too comfortable with them.

OR, maybe he's an expert (That has trouble with English ? haha.) and he knew exactly what he was doing. Really hard to say.

I agree completely...I developed this bad habit of moving my stonefish with my bare hand ... not the brightest idea...

Snakes that were supposed to be dead have bitten people. Snakes that have had their head chopped off have bitten people (rarely, sure...) but all the more reason no to do what he's doing. There's no illness that's enough for that to be a bright idea.

I don't care how comfortable you are handling hot animals-- any sick/dying animal is extremely unpredictable, so why start picking it up and stressing it out even more? Seems careless and irresponsible to me, especially given his hand placement in the first photo.

I agree with what he was trying to get at, about people not knowing what they're getting themselves into-- just wanting a "cool" animal, but think that it could've been presented in a little better way. Looked like a nice snake, too bad.

I agree, thats the first thing I said. The only thing I debated here was that maybe his approach to his "message" wasn't the best, but he may not have been showing off.

Id LOVE venomous snakes... Not just because they have venom, but because they are usually pretty well colored.

Here's another for you. Guys have stuck their hands in dead sharks mouths, and the shark (While DEAD) has bitten down. The electrical impulse field was still active and it felt the hand go in its mouth, sent off an electrical charge to the brain, back to the muscle and bam, guy gets bitten by dead shark. And, the sharks head had been removed previously, hours ago. It was pretty cool, was on one of those "WORLDS ______ ______" shows or something, hehe.

i agree the apeal for me is no way the venom its the awsome body and head shapes, the scales, and the awsome earthtones along with the bright colored guys.Whats not to like if you know what your doing.gdangit a spider just whent up my dang leg while typing this and yeah i had to smash it.I love spiders but not in my pants headed up,lol:nilly:

My dad has a story along those lines too, Rakie.

His friend used to work for a funeral home, and he'd go pick up the bodies from the morgue to prepare them for burial.

Well, one day, he was picking up a corpse, and it was in the back of the vehicle, and it sat up, belched loudly, and flopped back over!! That guy was OUT OF THERE!! lol

I agree that no matter how close to death's doorstep that beautiful creature was, holding was not the best idea, nor was how he went about trying to get his point across.

At least his heart was in the right place though.
