HITH, is something I do worry about. I have read that many O's get this, if I understand correctly though..with WC and a good diet, they can avoid that. I do regular WCs, and right now he is eating the frozen Krill, Beefheart and silversides. Trying to get him to eat pellets...he's not liking the idea though, I had the sinking kind, Ewurm suggested getting the floating ones...which I did, but right now he is still refusing them also.

Is there anything else I should be doing??

i've had my O's for around 5 years, good diet and good water has kept them safe from HITH.

i do agree with rally though, omega 1 pellets really bring out the best in them, i don;t use it as a staple, but i have used it in the past..great stuff

hmmm im jealous, great looking fish, i love my oscars, my grandson named mine oscar and steve, that was after the hedge in over the hedge.

Forget the sinking pellets and get floating ones. Oscars are pretty easy to get on pellets, and it will reduce the risk of developing HITH. Take the krill and THROW it at the water. That will usually induce a strike. After it gets the hang of that, substitute pellets. If it spits them out, don't give in. Keep offering pellets until it takes them.
i know you know of what you say however after a month mine still would not eat the pellets, went back to cichlid sticks and have to watch my fingers, gave them some boiled shrimp took me a week to get them to eat the sticks the one still wont.
