Lol I had chickens once. Had 2 of the 6 that I loved but sadly lost most to racoons including brownie (Rhode island red hen) gladly duchess (a rescue bird) survived and got rehomed to a friend afterwards. The only chicken we ever butchered was Danny (Cornish white broiler) the only rooster and other surviver. He was a mean bird, tried to spur everyone including me. Ended up breaking a tennis racket on him before he got the clue I wasn't to be messed with lol. But duchess and brownie were such nice chickens, loved to be picked up and carried around while being pet. They'd even willingly walk upto you wanting to be picked up. I have plans on getting chickens again at some point, thinking I'll get bantams this time around since I live in town now. Wish I could have a big silo like what you got tho, I could keep allot of bantams in something that big.

Awe! I hope to have chickens tame enough to pet and carry around?
That’s sad that raccoons took them though?
I worry about predators. We’ve had a big increase in predatory animals in the past 3 yrs or so. Coyotes, coons, mink, hawks, eagles, in addition to stray pets that occasionally visit.
And my own dogs? They haven’t killed any pets yet, but I think my boxer may have hurt one of them last year. It recovered, but I was very close to putting it down.

The second photo looks like an 80’s glamour shot haha

nice photography skills

Haha? It does. I was trying to get a straight on shot, but they move their heads constantly. Lol They really don’t hold still for more then a moment.
I’ll just have to keep trying to get that elusive shot I want.

Well that's sad to hear your pup didn't like the birds. We had 3 dogs and the paid no attention to the birds at all. And all the yard cats were afraid of em lol. The chickens loved to steal the cat food.

I don’t think he ment to hurt it. He just gets so excited:/
I wish he’d ignore them. And now my pup, his son is going to need training come spring.

Yeah our dog (cadee moose) was the same way with kittens. She'd want to play and well she never ment them any harm but when your a 100lb dog vrs a .5lb kitten well things happen. You could always tell she felt bad about it too afterwards as she would mope around all sad. She was still the best dog I ever had.
But with your pup ya got atleast you can train him at a young age.

We had a dip in temp the past few days, but they will be on the rise again.
Since getting regular outside time the guineas have started laying eggs again:) I get 3-4 every morning now.
Yesterday I got this jumbo egg!
There’s a large chicken egg from the store along with two regular guineas eggs for size comparison.

I can't get over how they look like something you'd have to pay someone to go to africa to catch themselves and end up paying $200+ a bird.

Naw, these guys are just common guineas. I think they are around $6 a head.
If I ever get a chance to go to my grand in laws I’ll have to get pictures of their guineas. They have purl and lavender ones. I’d love a lavender and royal purple!

They're literally everywhere here. Really not that rare, it's hella funny to watch them chase each other because it is high speed with crazy turns and dodges :D
