Went to Petsmart today

That and I didn't really think he was that small.. i mean my O has a hard time eating medium sized pellets.... Didnt think he'd go for the little guy... I guess I better start looking for fat fish instead of long ones..

I told him he's lucky I didn't get a red devil or midas to put in there with him for payback... not to kill him but to show him to pick on fish his own size... " I would have taken the midas or RD back then after he put the O in his place."

I know they did take it back... I just think Im so used to my O being as small as he was at only an inch when I got him, I didnt really think he was that big, untill I actually started to look at my older pics of when I first got him and I cant believe how much bigger he is now..

Im not saying every petsmart is that way, but ive seen and overheard stories of people who come back three times looking for fish, and not understanding why thier fish dies. One person even said the water is room temp, and they didnt have a heater, and the filter they had on thier 50g was made for a 10g.

If i worked in a Fish Shop, i would personaly deny to sell people fish when all they do is manage to kill them off, and expect thier money back in return for a dead fish...

All i'm saying, sorry if i offend or confuse people...

this is the first fish that ive had die because I made an honest mistake and misjudged their sizes

You would totally get fired, just saying haha. It's their job to sell fish. Just think abou it. If denied selling to all those people, you would sell to very passionate fish keepers and thats about it. You would be hurting for money. Its like any other business, you have to sell stuff to anyone that will buy.

Eh, no. Two of my LFS's have denied people several times, i know because ive both overheard and been told, as ive gotten in good with them. Im sure if i wanted a job at one of them, i could get one no problem.

Personally, i'd rather sell fish to people who know what they are doing, than sell numerous fish to a guy who ends up killing them one after another. (Not sayin that Op is doing this, but in general.)

I would think the safety and security of my products and livestock is number one on the list, as does my lfs's, rather than money.

Not to mention, i would think that a person who frequents a forum about keeping and caring for fish would have these same views. Life over money, welfare over monetary gain... Guess not.

As for OP, it can be a common mistake what you did. Do you have any Fish specialty shops, that focus most of or all of thier attention on fish? If so, maybe you could order a larger Bichir that would be able to hold its own... Will be more expensive, but the WELFARE/SECURITY of the fish would be less compromised.
