Eh, no. Two of my LFS's have denied people several times, i know because ive both overheard and been told, as ive gotten in good with them. Im sure if i wanted a job at one of them, i could get one no problem.

Personally, i'd rather sell fish to people who know what they are doing, than sell numerous fish to a guy who ends up killing them one after another. (Not sayin that Op is doing this, but in general.)

I would think the safety and security of my products and livestock is number one on the list, as does my lfs's, rather than money.

Not to mention, i would think that a person who frequents a forum about keeping and caring for fish would have these same views. Life over money, welfare over monetary gain... Guess not.

Whoa. Don't turn this on me. All I was saying was that, people don't want to lose their businesses... I have regaurd for all live. I wasn't implying that I don't take care of my pets..

90% of store owners could care less what people do with their products..... whether the fish lives or dies, its still $ for the store...

You would totally get fired, just saying haha. It's their job to sell fish. Just think abou it. If denied selling to all those people, you would sell to very passionate fish keepers and thats about it. You would be hurting for money. Its like any other business, you have to sell stuff to anyone that will buy.
I disagree somewhat if someone keeps bringing back dead fish and getting free replacements the store will end up still hurting for money.

^ I agree with this as well.

I kind of think of this as a medieval leviathan ((The kid killing the fish)). Every week it requires a new sacrafice ((Fish))to keep it happy. The sacrafice makes the leviathan happy, but also makes the town suffer at the same time((Losing money+fish)). The only way to ease the towns suffering is to kill the leviathan ((or in this case refuse to sell any more fish)).

Also, i think of this as a problem Niccolo Machiavelli (favorite philospher/political philosopher) would solve easily. He put the safety and well being of the state at the top of his list ((Safety of stock)). The means justify the end. If an attacker is threatening the security of his people ((Kid killing fish after fish, more fish to be killed soon)), he would suggest to remove the threat, in any way possible. Removing the threat is simply denying to sell any more fish.

Think what you may, but in my mind, and possibly the mind of every fish being sold, it would be better to only sell to the trusted, experienced fish keepers, than a kid with a 10g full of 100 fish.

That and I didn't really think he was that small.. i mean my O has a hard time eating medium sized pellets.... Didnt think he'd go for the little guy...

If an O can fit part of the fish in it's mouth it will try, lol. I added a 2.5" FM to my O's tank. My O is only 6" so the FM is practically almost half his size in TL. Well my O tried to eat him. He had his mouth fully extended and the caudal fin end of my FM hanging out of his mouth. Luckily I did what you did and went to net him and in the process spooked my O into letting him out and rehoused the FM into a grow out 100g where he is now doing well. Not to be cynical but what on earth were you thinking leaving him in the tank after seeing this once already? What did you expect? If he'll try for him once he'll do it again.

Bichirs + Oscars = No No. Smaller, less agressive cichlids, Maybe, but def not Oscars, Jags, etc.

O's aren't really aggressive cichlid per say and certainly don't belong in an aggressive category with a Jaguar. There just very HUNGRY cichlid. :D:D

Its all about who works at the fish store and getting to know them if the manager of the department is knowledgeable his crew most likely will be too. Worse case just deal with him if you find the right guy he will more a friend than a salesman! :)

You compare an old used up car to a living organism? Geez. Maybe i will be glad the world will end today, no more humans who care about other living things left alive.
