I have a standard 180 (6x2x2) and I am looking for a single fish aggressive with a lot of personality to fill it up, I have owned most of the standard (RD/Midas,Oscars ect.) med-large (10-14in) cichlids.

I am not looking specifically for cichlids, I am open to all freshwater fish that would fit the bill. Let me know what you guys think.

The fish has to be able to stay in the tank for life, I dont want the pressure that I HAVE to upgrade by a certain time.

Thanks in advance

Cichlids are obviously front runners for this...A big male of the larger
South/Central Americans or even one of the larger West African species
in a tank to himself,in excellent condition...Makes for an impressive display
IMO.....But other than cichlids...maybe have a look at some of the smaller,
mid-sized catfish from South America,Africa and Asia...There's a number
of them that are pretty cool and don't grow massive!?......

There are Soooo many choices but I would go Sa/Ca cichlids myself like Trimac or Chancho or Amarillo or Managuense "Honduras" or hogaboomorum or beani or possibly one of the Crenicichla species would be impressive or if you wanted something different I would choose a bumble bee grouper I know they are brackish but is a very kool fish .
