what are the easiest cichlids to breed besides convicts??

the colorful one is the male, and the one with less color overall but freckles on the cheeks (gill plates) is the female. i would recommend that you put in a divider to seprate them so they can relax a little bit. fatten them up on good food and remove the divider after two weeks or so and see if they are interested in mating. just because you have a male and female doesn't always mean they will want to mate.

I have had it easy spawning saijeca the t-bar cichlid they have the same body style as cons but are much prettyer imo just add water and a cave and watch them go at it.

for me, the texas cichlid.about 2 years ago i bought 3 1in texas cichlids, and 2 months later i had fry. but they dont make good parents from what i have seen

Any Brichardi-Type Neolamprologus sp..
Neolamp. brichardi, pulcher, splendens (aka helianthus), gracilis, marunguensis, savoryi, falcicula, crassus.
They breed quickly and repetatively. Brichardi and pulcher are probably the easiest to find but you can also get splendens, gracilis and marunguensis if you dig around a bit.
Right now I have breeding pairs of both pulcher and splendens and can easily find some gracilis.

You certainly want these things to breed fast. Get a colony of just about any mbuna at about 2 inches. If you have lots of caves, you'll have babies in about 3-4 months.

Next to convicts, your best bet will be kribensis. There are a number of different species but you will probably see the pulcher variety most often. The advantage with these cichlids is that you will most likely buy adults whereas other cichlids are bought as a group of young fish and you wait for a pair to form. The kribs should be breeding for you within weeks if properly fed and given correct water conditions. I do not know what your ultimate breeding goals are, but certain fish will only produce one sex if there pH is not optimal. Make sure you research your fish and give them the correct environment.

My cutteri cichlids bred in my hard city water and have managed to keep their young alive and growing in my 125. Shocked me. I couldn't believe any new world cichlid would breed in that water when they never did in my soft water. But then, any member of the cryptoheros genus breed like rabbits.

Name 4 species of plec's that breed without any special treatment. EG, driftwood, soft water, rain system etc. Frontosa also are harder to breed then the average cichlid.
