What are the largest?

Why on earth do people have such trouble with largest versus longest???

Largest usually implies mass, or in other words, space occupied. It doesn't matter how long it is. Thats why the Nile river is longer, but the Amazon river is larger in terms of sheer volume. Heck, there's some worm in the ocean that is reputably longer than a blue whale, but it's nowhere close to matching its mass.

There is no "debate."

Komodo dragons are larger than crocodile monitors in terms of weight and mass. Thats why I said so.

Green anacondas are larger than retics for the same reasons. Again...thats why I said so. I am perfectly aware that the longest snake is a retic and the longest lizard may be a salvator...but this topic was about the largest, not the longest, which is why I didnt even mention them.

The concept is not that hard.

[NOTE: I am aware that some keepers insist on powerfeeding their pythons and water monitors, thus making those two species come close to rivaling anacondas and komodos in size. However, I am not counting captive specimens, only what has been observed in the wild.]

He's right actully this thread was on the largest (bulky and heavy) reptiles. But don't feel to bad CTU2 and there is no reason for getting mad Ophiuch.

Jeez it isn't that serious :chillpill:

Largest monitor = Komodo, yeah, everybody knows, nobody ever said anything grows larger than Komodo dragons. But then he changed it to largest in the trade which is either water or croc monitor. Water is definitely bulkier. As for the snakes who knows? Between sketchy reports, lengths based on stretched skins etc you can't even give a definitive and it certainly isn't something to get pissy over.
