Hey Everybody,

Everytime I go to my lfs, I always seem hundreds and hundreds of different kinds of marine fish food, then I stop to think..which is best?

Currently I'm feeding my fish which consist of:

3 Chromis
1 Convict Tang
1 Maroon Clown
3 Fire Fish

Im feeding them Freeze Dried Mysis Shrimp and New life spectrum..

Is that a good diet for these fish? I do throw seaweed in the tank, but the tang doesn't go for it.

I would like advice, also I have a small zoa colony and a seabae anemone what should I be feeding them? I throw a silverside for the anemone every week.

Thanks Guys,

NLS, Picene Mysis, Brine, Flake and I dose the tank with copepods every two weeks...

The best is New Life Spectrum(NLS) as a staple of their diet. Mysis is also good.

Do you put the seaweed on a clip so that the tang can graze on it throughout the day?

I feed NLS, Mysis, Hikari and ON Angel Formulas, Fleshy and I's homemade reef food(consists of clams, mussels, scallops, squid, shrimp, mysis, silversides, Cyclopeeze, Reef Plankton, a reef powder, Selcon, Vitachem, Zoecon, Marine C, and a few other things I am sure I'm missing.), Sprung's seaveggies(purple, red, green, although my angels no longer will eat it), and very occasionally Formula 2 flakes. The Mysis, seaveggies, and angel formulas are often soaked in either Selcon or Zoecon before feeding.

I think you should look into getting a vitamin supplement to soak your mysis and seaweed occasionally.

The zoa's don't need to be feed, but the anemone should be getting suitable sized chunks of shrimp, squid, or other marine fish a couple times a week.

NLS
PE mysis
Rod's Food
Raw Shrimp
Nori

My fish are 2 clowns, a Melanurus Wrasse, a Scopas tang, a Starry blenny, 2 pajamas and a black molly:screwy:. Everything eats the NLS and mysis. The PJs don't eat the nori but the wrasse absolutely destroys the nori sheets. Everything goes the craziest for the Rod's food though. the RBTAs get the shrimp along with my plate coral and brain.

My tang used to not go for the nori clip but I would put it in anyways. Eventually it figured out that the wrasse and blenny were getting it from the clip so it started feeding off of it. You could try leaving it in and breaking some off to see if it catches on. I do the nori a few times a week and the Rods usually once or twice. NLS everyday and the anemones get fed once a week at the most. I am going to look into supplements for the nori.

Cool thanks for the info guys, btw I forgot to add that I have the garlic extreme from kent. I use it a few times, should I use it every feeding?

Also how many times a day/ how much do you feed during one feeding?

Also I'm going to be looking at some foods labeled and then I'll get back to the thread. Also what fleshy makes, is it for sale or is it a recipie?

Also last but not least, dosing copepods? Would they thrive in the tank until eaten? Also does anyone know a site on how to keep brine shrimp long term? I use to hatch at baby brine shrimp, but then in a few days theyed perish. I would like to keep them until they turn into adults.

Sorry for the numerous questions :)

Your tank will produce its own copepods. He supplements because of the mandarin in his tank. Your population should grow just fine without excessive predation from a dragonet.

Im not sure about brine shrimp lasting to adult hood but I wouldn't bother. Their nutritional value is next to nothing. Use frozen mysis instead.

I feed NLS, Mysis, and Ocean Nurtition flakes and dried seaweed.

I'm only feeding preds right now, feed mostly frozen shrimp, squid, prawn, krill, silverside, lancefish, etc

I am feeding NLS, on prime reef flakes pe and hikari mysis, hikari brine, cyclops, frozen and live baby brine shrimp, daphnia, reef crack, oyster eggs, and arctic pods. And I soak the frozen like twice a week in selcon. I feed anywhere from 2-6 times a day depending on m schedule.
Unless the you have to have the adult brine they aren't worth it.

reef crack lmfao

Ok well now I know the brands of food, but how much do you guys feed them? Put a little, and see if they eat it...then a little more etc...?

Reef Crack - thats hillarious.

I use - Supiulina Flake, Nori sheets, Pro salts - Variety supreme ( Plankton,Brine, Squid, shrimp, urchin, silverslides, krill, clam, Pro green, pro green V)

For filter feeders - oyster eggs, marc wiess Combo Vital ( Vital & Blackpowder)
