Didn't realise they were restricted in all EU countries, thought it might just be the UK.

so in the uk they are endangered ? or why is it that they are strict?

It depends on the country. Even if very restricted you guys at least can somehow have them legaly. Here we are totaly forbiten to have them:(

Here´s one of the species Ive seen for sale in kingsnake in the states. They are prety much about the same level of care than bearded dragons. Ive even herd that one of the common giant species is avaible from time to time in the states(I say common because this genus englobes some of the most criticaly endangered lizards on the planet ,species like La Gomera giant lizard wich was though to be extinct and several with similar stories, but happly plentifull of common species, mainly the small and medium ones)

Well today I had the day off and me my girl and my son drove around all day looking for somewheere with reptiles, anywyas at the end of the day driving home i pass by a place called birds and pets, assuming they have no reptiles i still go check it out, and see a nice pair of breeding beardies and savanah monitors and the shop was well maintained so i asked the guy if he can get lacerta agilis and he didint know what it was, so i was like damn,,, anywyas he says hold on let me call my supplyer and he calls him and ask about it he says he can get them.

ranging from 10 - 50 bucks each but depends on the species ..

so i was thinking depending on the species? i thought the speicies was lacerata agilis? or sand lizzard...?

for the ones i wanted what is the sp. name? the one that coura first recomened cause i would like to get a pair :-) not soon but after i set up my tank space for them?

any one know? (coura)

thats a nice one but maybe to big for my 3 foot enclousre that im gonna build?

lol

hey coura since you seem to know plenty about these guys any of the are good in a pair for a 3 foot tank?

like can i house the lacerta agilis sand lizard in a pair? and that would be nice to have a rare lizard in my house :-)

The species I mencioned is Lacerta agilis the sand lizard. They probably are sayind "diferent species" because they can get more Lacerta species or because they can get more than one kind of agilis. As you may already gessing there are more than just one agilis. The species forms a complex of subspecies and morphotips because it has such a large geographic range in Europe and Asia. Now this is just the mater of seing what do you want because the care is mostly the same. Ask the dealer the latin names and search on google. I also mencioned Lacerta lepida the largest of the lacertas and that dealer can probably get them. Also have you pondered a smaller species? I herd that Podarcis situla (the Italian wall lizard and a very atractive species for that matter) is getting more and more popular in the US. Ive even herd of feral populations of this lizard ocurring in New york city:eek::D

That is a medium Gallotia and would be suitable for your enclosure. And yes you can keep them in pairs(male and female or 2 females)

Yeah, over here they are endangered and under protection. There are reintroduction schemes and everything. I think you can keep them, but it's almost too much hassle to do so due to the legal stuff you have to go through, so no one bothers.
