Lets keep this thread moving and remember you can select more than one filter if you have a few different brands running.

i am too new to give any kind of longevity reference. i went with the rena xp3 because of reviews and price. if money were no option would have gotten the fx5 or eheim. dave

Bump. We need more votes!

I've been running two Filstar Rena XP3's on my 110 gal. tank with not one single problem, not one! One has been running for over 5 years and I added another one over 2 years ago and between the both of them, I have not had one single problem at all. I think that's pretty good.

I've never change the sponges in either. Just rinse and reuse. Same with bio media. But I do change the Micro pad when I use it, at this time I don't have the micro pad in either filter. My water is super clear.

But as always we never stop trying things on our tanks so I think I'm going to try a Fluval FX5 sometime soon. I like it's advertised flow rate.

I'm a nu-clear/ocean clear guy. Love those canisters. I have 6 of them up and running now. Hard to believe I'm the only one at the moment with these filters posting on this thread. They are very expensive but worth the cost IMO

I finally got my 240 up. The tank was already drilled with overflows, so I chose to run a sump. First sump and I love it! Get some overflow boxes and go with the sump.
