what could i stock a 300gallon rubbermaid with?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He can easily do an aro for life in a 300 gallon rubbermaid, that's better than what mostaros end up in. It'll have plenty of swimming room and won't get spooked from activity outside of the stock tank. You would still need some type of cover or netting but aros can easily be done in a 300 rubbermaid.

Yeah an aro would fit but.. A Rubbermaid with a top... Ugh.. How are you gonna view the fish.. Aro will jump without cover.. Even with a clear cover its gonna fog up

Or what I did on my old stock tank, put some screws into the outside of the top rim, and pull that anti bird bush netting tight across the top ; ) hardly even see it

I disagree, my aquarium (glass) is 5x3x2 thats pretty close to your dimension considering you say aquariums dimensions are "very different"

your aquarium isnt 5x5 is 3 feet wide close to 5 feet? no,

Any fish that stays at or under 3' long really. Plenty of room in a rubbermaid.

This is fricking ridiculous. So by your logic you could keep any 18" fish in a 30x30" or 9" fish in a 15x15"? Basically any 6-7" fish would be fine in a home depot bucket and the cup that a betta comes is just perfect. Nonsense? :screwy:

Arowana should be kept in tanks that are at least 3x the aros length. The 300g tub would only be good as a growout upto about 24" at best. Plus the pre mentioned issue with covering the tub to prevent jumping the tub is really a poor choice for housing an aro.

Also the 5'9"x5' footprint in not realistic. I have a 150g that measures 58" x39" but actual bottom inside dimensions are 47" x 28" and this doesn't include the space that is taken up by the two "drain-plug" structures either. So that tub is alot closer to that 5'x3'x2' tank that another poster had described
