Personally, i dont think birds should be kept as pets. The idea of clipping the wings of a creature with the ability to fly makes my stomach turn.
I think the golden rule applies to all pets. If you would enjoy being your pet, then its probably ok. With obvious exceptions.
+100000000000 about the birds. I wouldnt care if the standard for birdkeeping was a huge area it can fly around in, like a 10x10x10 enclosure.. but its clipping wings and putting them in cages that they can barely stretch in.
These things i consider fish abuse
- tank too small for fish w/o plans on upgrading soon
-underfeed
-power feed for faster growth
-lack of WCs/poop siphoning
-fish fighting as bloodsport (i guess thats a thing... like pitting 2 fish against each other you know will death fight.. kind of like dog fighting)
-flushing live fish is a HUGE one for me, if you dont have the decency to kill the thing before letting it die in the poop of the person who was supposed to take care of it, just give up on keeping pets. If you for some reason ABSOLUTELY have to kill it, put it in a bag and slam it on the toilet seat or decapitate
-fish tattoo, piercing, dying (as in coloring)
-ice dipping (i guess discus breeders in asia dip the fins of discus in ice cold water to produce the black trim, while german its genetic, as far as i know)
-taking a side trip on your way back from getting a live fish (like going to the grocery after the lfs)
-giving improper diet (like feeding all meat to pacu)
