Yeah... I agree. O's do get a bad rap around here, seems like. Again, I think its the "common" factor. But in fairness, I have seen some threads about Oscars on here, where plenty of people have argued on their behalf. Among CA/SA cichlids I have owned over the years, aside from my oscar, are: discus, zonatums, hartwegi, pearsi, bocourti, jack dempseys, angels, rams, festae, lyonsi, vontehillo, severums, red ceibal centurions, green terrors and jags. Wow... and I'm sure I'm missing someone. LOL...
Anyway, my point being. When all of that shook out, I have sold or traded most of them away at some point. I really loved my hartwegi, and he died from an accident. But aside from that, everyone one of them eventually became trade bait, or hit the market for sale. The ones I have left, that I just cannot bring myself to try to sell, to save my life?
Oscar, lyonsi, severum, vontehillo, red ceibal centurions. Of these fish, the lyonsi and red ceibals are probably the rarest. But I cherish them no more or less than Bubba (my oscar). He is the only fish I have that will literally rise out of the water to take food from between my fingers! LOL... This guy acts like a total puppy dog, as soon as the lights in the room turn on, because he knows food is coming! It is really hilarious to watch. He's a character. Interestingly, I got all of my fish from either a vendor or a club member. Bubba? Animal rescue. I paid $1. No lie. And I drove nearly an hour and a half to rescue him.
And yes... he's the O in my avatar, LOL... good ol' Bubba!
