People seem to want to debate :nilly: so I thought I would start one based on fish...:)

Over the years Ive seen many fish trends come and go.

Considering that some people only buy the hot and trendy fish of the moment:naughty: , what do you think the next fish will be that decreases in popularity?

My prediction...DATS!!! (no offense to LONG time Dat owners):D

Recently Ive noticed that there is a huge influx of baby dats and that they are increasingly available. I think that over time they will no longer be that popular since everybody will have them and they take forever to grow out into the huge monsters we want them to be...

no offense to anybody thats recently bought them! :D

just my .02 any thoughts? comments?

Cool thread...
Let me think... I think Arowanas might be on the list ...

why? :D

I vote for peacock bass. They get so large so quick.

It will be a while until dats are on their way out, since they grow much slower.

I tend to agree with you on the dats but only time will tell. Trying to think of another trendy fish that is becoming popular and might go out of style but can't. For the most part alot of trendy fish stay in the hobby for a while, like you'll always have you ca/sa cichlid people, you'll always have people who love arows, etc.

i don't think that aros are on their way out anytime soon. there are too many varieties, and because some cost so much, they will never be owned by everybody.:D

I remember when odd patterned clown loaches were the fish of the month, since then their hypes died down.

Why....
There seem to be a lot - and I mean A LOT of large adults changing hands every week. I just don't think they are "exciting" enough to sustain the interest :)

Now, if Asians were legal.... boy, different story!

I am happy about that.:D Popularity just means that they are going to cost more, so I want them to lose their hype.

On second thought I took time to look into my crystal ball....

........I see with all the gigas forsale everywhere right there will be 900,000 outgrown gigas for sale soon in 2-4 years..
