What do you usually do during your big water changes?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I usually just sit and watch my tank, a few months ago I got distracted and over filled one of the tanks on the main floor and about 50 gallons of water drained down through the floor and almost ruined the new ceiling and walls we put in downstairs. The fiance' was MAD!!! So, I learned to just sit and watch the water so another mishap doesn't happen!!!
It's never good to make the man of the house mad!!

The water is draining right now

dont forget about it!:D

Im done now, I was only doing the 55 as I did the 220 yesterday when I setup an extra canister filter on it. So now Im bumming around waiting for my mate to rock up.

i stick the hose on to drain and sit and surf, i then stick the hose on to fill and sit and surf and watch the tank in the background as the tanks in the same room.
sometimes i clean the glass if needed, its as simple as that and i do around 80 gals per week.

I scrape off algae on my front glass with a brush. Use pails to change water.:D I do it on almost daily basis.:D Sometimes I siphon my substrate off its muck and squeeze out sponge filters to prevent the muck from blocking input flows.:)

or arguing with my brother over pH or ammonia or something like that :nilly:

I sit and watch TV right next to the aquarium and boil some water (I know it's weird, but I'm always afraid that the water will be too cold so I mix in the boiling water with the tap from the hose).

Wait, let me get this straight.... we're supposed to change the water? :D
I usually stand there and watch. I've turned my back too many times while filling using a 2 1/2" line. :(
