What do you usually do during your big water changes?

Well, last year, I was on AC chat while siphoning...when I looked up, the tank was empty and there were 2 gallons of fish water in my rug...
There is a lump in the floor to prove it :D
That was a 5.5g, doesn't speak much for my attention span...
 
I sit and laugh at my boyfriend. Our tanks are in his basement bedroom so he goes up and down the stairs with at least two big buckets. I'm not strong enough to lift the buckets so I'm stuck checking the filters and all that fun stuff which only takes a few minutes.
 
I use 5 gallon buckets... ones filling w/ new water while i'm filling the other w/ tankwater. and the few minutes here 'n there I'm doing random clean-up in my bedroom since thats where my tanks are. changing filter pads if need be ect. Checking the MFK boards. I learned not ot be on the phone when doing water changes... lol.. I've lost track of time yapping, and I've also dropped my phone into the tank before >.< at the time it was a saltwater one at that.
 
Man, reading all the horror stories and all the hard work you guys do during water changes sounds like it sucks.

I go play with my kids outside (just leave the window open to see the tank) or watch TV (caugh... Laker game) or just about anything other than watch the boring tank drain or fill up.
 
Why do so many people use buckets?
 
I use buckets because the connections to my Python got ruined and I need another.Out of all of my tanks,I only use aged water for my growout tank.The others get tapwater dosed with AP conditioner.

i sit there and watch and wait... ive learned to not walk away because i wont remember till i feel my feet getting wet or hear fish flopping on sand...

HaHa,I usually watch one of the other tanks while one is being emptied/filled.
 
usually I work on my other tanks.. or talk to the fish.. yeah, I do that..
