What does freedom mean to Americans?

I dont think Canadians ever have to worry about a US invasion. If I were forced to consider the notion seriously Id say that it is strategically smarter to have a country on our border than take all the land and have to monitor/defend vast unpopulated regions ourselves. Much better to have a buffer nation of friendlies that the enemy would have to fight through to get to us. Americans are much more enthusiastic about bombing the crap out of cities when they arent ours.

Umm, yes you are right.
Poor choice of words on my part.
I should have said "acknowledging as truthful fact" or something like that.
As for acknowledging you or your view at all, I think I have done that.
I think I have put much effort into trying to understand you, perhaps not successfully.
And I have put much effort into trying to explain my view to you, perhaps not successfully.
So I have acknowledged you. And your point of view.

THIS IS WHAT I MEAN :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

See? You obviously had a different view. Take out acknowledging that you said it wrong. Doesn't matter. What matters is I think one thing, you think something else. You explain your position WITHOUT ANY BELITTLING! Yay =)

(I'm not being sarcastic, I genuinely am happy)

You got that right.
If Russia had come over the hill during the cold war, you would have met them head to head in Canada (and Alaska obviously). And let us clean up the mess.
But that's ok, because at least you are sitting down there, and we do realize that's why we are not Russian.
And why Canada is pathetically lax in matters of it's own security and defense.

Most likely we will continue to merge peacefully for reasons of trade until we are indistinguishable.
Defiantly if you build a fence around U.S.A (a figurative economic/immigration fence)
I'm sure Canada would rather be inside that fence than outside.
But...would such a fence really be necessary? Or just a way to absorb Canada and Mexico?
Not that it would be such a terrible thing.
I can think of worse countries to be swallowed by.

I understand that total invasion is not practical.
While it would be embarrassingly easy to blitzkrieg into our cities, as was done in Iraq, it takes tremendous resources to conquer and hold large territories and police an entire population.
More so when the population looks just like you and has more guns per capita than just about anyone.
But you wouldn't really have to do that.
Because most of our lands are vast and largely unpopulated, as you say.
So you could just roll in with a few tanks and troops and drop a pipeline into a mountain head and suck up all the water you want.
Some farmer at the end of a dry river bed in Saskatchewan won't do much to stop you.
Even easier to do that with oil. The infrastructure is already built.
Of course oil fields are privately owned and sell to the highest bidder.
So you can just buy it, for now.
But as resources diminish governments will seize private assets to keep themselves functional.
U.S.A won't ever have to conquer Canada and rename it America.
And I'm not seriously worried about the U.S.A we know today stepping too far out of line.
But when, very soon, your cities have outgrown their resources and are literally dying of thirst you will come get what you need.
Even if you think it is immoral.

This is also the first time you are not giving attitude,
OK Mr. Snottypants?

It goes both ways you know.
I do not understand why you demand or expect respect when, in the past, you have not shown any to me.

Reread your posts, your words, your tone, as if I was sending that attitude to you.
It goes both ways.
And 90% of it is coming from you.
That is honest and true.

Why in heck would the US try to take over your country of Canada?

Especially when US and Canada have been allies since WWI?

OK fine, there was that one time, but does the 1700's really count? Besides, you were a British colony then, and US was fighting for its independence.

They wouldn't.
We don't even want most of it.

Did you know Canada burned down the original White House back in the day?

BTW
If anyone would bother to actually check their facts before they start acting like they know everything (I am not referring to ty1089 or Semperfish) they would see that:
America does refer to the United States of America.
American does refer to a citizen of the United States of America.

At least that's what it says in my Canadian dictionary.

But it was nice meeting you all.

Especially you Semperfish.
I very much like how you carry yourself. And how you explain things truthfully, without any BS.

Thought it was British soldiers that came down from Canada in the War of 1812, but old history anyway.

I think for whatever its worth, US and Canada will probably be closer in future with regards to economy, military, and culture ties anyway.

British lead Canadian Natives, mostly.
They moved quickly without gathering reinforcements.
American Indians truly deserve more credit than we have given them.

And I agree with the rest of it.

See Yoshi?

I can take a little joke .

Can you?
